Chongqing province is located in the zone with the climate of hot summer and cold winter, Its construction temperature environment is quite atrocious. With the social economic development in Chongqing and the improvement of people living standard, the summer air conditioning and winter heating has been widely used by residents in Chongqing area.The attendant increase in building energy consumption, resource shortages currently has become a big problem impeding social development. However, the current implementation in Chongqing region of the national common residential energy efficiency standards and practices is not satisfactory and the actual promotion of the results are unsatisfactory. Therefore, It is of great significance that explore effective measures for energy conservation in Chongqing residents building from a new angle.There are so many underlying concepts of the retrospective from generation to generation in the traditional houses of architectural form, through its concept of natural eco-awareness and understanding of impact can be extracted form the traditional architecture of the natural factors and the basic relationship between the formation of Architectural Form, by building experience accumulation and the development of improved construction techniques, and finally put into the building as a form of ecological performance of construction experience. Chongqing traditional dwellings had the formation of a series of positive coping methods in its long development process, for specific climatic conditions in Chongqing, their adaptability to climate and topography, application materials and construction of a good environment and their health, comfort indoor thermal environment provides a very effective ideas and approaches for Chongqing modern residential building design in the energy efficiency .This thesis firstly based on the traditional dwelling in Chongqing.It start from the social and historical background about the formation and development of traditional dwellings, to explore deeper concepts of ancient human settlements quintessence. This thesis investigate the solid shape of Chongqing residential dwellings as the object of this study. From the three aspect of layout, space and materials,the research summarized the climate adaptation techniques of traditional dwellings, filtrated its with the view of modern architectural design of the "green" and "ecological" point, learning from traditional dwellings in Chongqing nutrition, combined with the practical needs of modern architectural design and technical means, on the Chongqing modern residential building on the three aspects of group layout, unit design and construction of the design and materials.It made the environment more to adapt to regional climate in Chongqing's residential building.This design strategies to create a more comfortable living environment for heat and moisture to reduce the active regulation of construction equipment, to achieve the intention of energy saving.By the demonstration of this analysis, it was confirmed that the use of traditional architectural thinking to the field of modern architectural design, energy saving, and put forward the design strategies of residential buildings in Chongqing, the corresponding design of energy strategies for improving energy efficiency in residential buildings in Chongqing.
