The paper is a part of the project of National "863"----"Research of design and experiments of vertical-driven piezoelectric vibration feeder"(No. 863-512-30-08). The structure of a kind of vertical-driven piezoelectric vibration feeding device (hereinafter referred to as vertical piezoelectric feeding device) has been proposed. A model machine has been processed and assembled. And it has been tested through experiments. The results show that the piezoelectric vibration feeding device of this kind of structure could work stably and persistently.In this paper, the domestic and foreign development status of vertical piezoelectric feeder has been explained. The structure of vertical piezoelectric feeder has been designed. And the structure has been simplified into mechanical model and its mechanical properties have been analyzed. The natural frequency of piezoelectric vibration device has been calculated in detail. A experimental machine has been made. The working mechanism of the piezoelectric vibration feeder and the movement status of materials have been analyzed and studied deeply. A six-order mode analysis has been carried out for the vertical piezoelectric feeder by using the software ANSYS. Only the first order vibration mode of the extracted first four orders vibration modes could meet the vibration law and requirements of the vertical piezoelectric feeder. According to the conclusions of theoretical analysis, the driving power supply has been designed. And the principles of the main circuits of the driving power supply and the debugging results have been explained in detail. The influences brought by factors such as the amount and sticking locations of the piezoelectric ceramics, working frequency, working voltage, etc. to the feeding speed and feeding stability of the piezoelectric vibration feeding device have been analyzed in detail through a great number of experiments. The relationship among the voltage of power supply, frequency and feeding speed of the vertical piezoelectric feeder could be obtained through a series of curves. The experimental results show that the feeding rate increases when the voltage increase and the feeding rate will achieve the maximum value when the excitation frequency is identical with the natural frequency of the system.
