With the development of civilization and economy, there are more and more systems with liquid piping transportation. The key mission is how to ensure these systems' safety, so the process analysis and safety design of water hammer is more and more being attached importance to. It is a long time research task that how to prevent the water hammer accident more economically, reasonably, scientifically and effectively and search the optimum protection countermeasures basing on the practical projects.In pumping water supplying systems, the water hammer take placed frequently. There are many reasons for water-hammer, such as the design and operation of the opening and closing of the valve, the inadvertent stoppage of the pump by operator, pump failure, and disaster and so on. In industrial piping systems, such as the heat exchanging and circular system of the nuclear power station, and the rocket propellant piping, etc.. The water hammer take placed frequently for the opening and closing of the valve. The harmfulness of the water-hammer is very tremendous. The water hammer accident can cause the pipeline to break, the equipment to be damaged, leak and even give up water in a large amount, and cause the pump station to flood and destroy sometimes, loss of life and so on.The basic principle and method for analyzing the water hammer are introduced. The mathematical models for calculating the water hammer under different systems' conditions are founded. The visual program is compiled by language VB for the simulated calculation. The influence of fluid structure interaction in the simple piping is considered, and the research with ANSYS is conducted to the piping and the fluid. The mainly content involves several aspects as follow:1. The basic conceptions of water hammer, valve stroking and fluid structure interaction are introduced at length.2. On the basis of summarizing the researching productions of formers, the basic theories of water hammer and the characteristic method are systemically expatiated.3. Combining the actuality conditions of the projects of pump station, the mathematical models for calculating the water hammer under different conditions are founded. The research about different strategies of valve stroking optimization and the methods of controlling the water hammer are conducted, containing valve stroking of pump outlet valve, piping terminal valve and piping middle valve. The visual program is compiled by language VB and a compute numerical simulation system for calculating the water hammer under different conditions with butterfly valve. The advantages of the software system are amiability surface, good interaction, high liability and easy operation. 4. The interaction of the water hammer of simple piping and the piping, namely, fluid structure interaction, are considered. The quantificational calculation is conduct with the finite software ANSYS. The water hammer pressure and velocity of the fluid are analyzed.
