Under the influence of globalization on education, China's educational concept and the teaching model are towards to the direction of diversification and flexibility, the original space of senior education building no longer meet the multi-polarity of teachers and students. At the same time, the rapid development of contemporary higher education brought about the rapid expansion of education buildings, the lags of architectural design theory and practice on teaching building, people only focus on architecture style, but neglect spatial ontology and many other issues.The paper studies education building space from a polysemous perspective. By the addition of Science of Higher Education and architecture space, this paper establishes the theory framework of polysemous study, and overcomes the limitations that only focus on space function and form. Through analyzing the impacts of social context, education system, design status, we improves understanding of space function, behavior model, spiritual experience, recognizes the essence. The paper reveals the deep structure that drives development, grasps the fundamental needs and the development mechanism of education building space. In the end, we propose design methods with meeting complex function, uncertain behavior, interactive experience. Compound refers to meet teaching, leisure, entertainment and other functions at the same time, reflects the inclusion of various functions and activition of the person. It includes that maintain the space elasticity, creative luxury space, use flexible component. Uncertainty is between the space control elements and the different behavior patterns of people. It includes that integrate multi-scale space, optimize space form, strengthen ties and enhance the spatial quality. The study of interactivity are from designer, user, and space. We emphasize the important position of users, propose three methods that break with traditional space, use advanced technologies, and public participation in the design.The concept of polysemy which covers design, use, and even the process of renewal and transformation signs an innovation on education building space. Aiming to improve the utilization of space, promote interpersonal relationships, and inspire space activity.
