As an important stage of Chinese basic education system,secondary education affects the overall and harmonious development of students.Whether the public space of the teaching building in the middle school can promote the daily teaching process and cognitive training between classes is related to the formation of students' sound personality.However,the public spsce of school today cannot meet the environmental requirements of today's educational philosophy.The development and practice of the Holistic Education concept at home and abroad has had a significant influence on public space.Better school design is important supplement to mature educational practice.Therefore,it is necessary to research how to design the public space of the middle school teaching building from the perspective of Holistic Education so as to promote students to release their instincts and get along with the society in harmony.This article takes the Holistic Education as the starting point and selects the public space of the middle school teaching building as the research object.This is different from traditional middle schools in that Holistic education focuses on self-discovery and self-motivation,while traditional educational concepts place too much emphasis on obedience and tradition.First of all,this article studies the concept,main content and teaching principles of Holistic Education and its impact on the public space of the middle school teaching building.It is proposed that the public space of the middle school teaching building suitable for holistic education should have the characteristics of promoting personal development and encouraging interpersonal communication.Then,through the survey results of the national middle school students' questionnaires,the article summarizes the space preferences for the cultivation of students' personality development,and analyzes the real needs of students in public spaces by conducting field investigations on the middle school teaching buildings,and then put forward the principle of spatial openness to cultivate personality development and the principle of spatial interaction to promote students' interpersonal ability.At the same time,a comprehensive evaluation of the space for cultivating personality development and the space for promoting students' interpersonal communication ability is carried out.On this basis,the design method of the public space of the teaching building is summarized,and its application in actual projects is verified through engineering practice.
