The Preliminary Research Of The Thought Of Contemporary Western Ideal City

The research object of this paper is the thought of contemporary western ideal city. And the thought explains the viewpoints and urban theories of the city status and future through a variety of ideal city plans and ideas. The main Character of them is the criticizing of the real urban problems and the predicting of the future urban development. This paper adopts a research method of combining induction and typical researching. Gathering up a great amount of data, and then classifying the thought according to the ideology and works, for grasping the whole idea and summing up all different types. So the paper thinks that the thought of contemporary ideal city can be divided into three main directions by analyze the contemporary city development background, the urban problems concerned by the ideal city, and the main affected theories : attention to ecological sustainable development, use of advanced technology, and social humanities. And in view of the limit of individual knowledge level and practice restrictions, the research focus on the induction of the three different directions of the thought, and on the summarization of the typical cases through their personal experiences, backgrounds, main theories, main ideal city models, and thought readings. And the primary goal is to complement the deletion of the contemporary part of ideal city research. Secondly, it is to comprehend the effect of the thought on the urban and some other relevant profession, and try to summarize the ideological characteristics of the contemporary thought, the criticism on contemporary urban, the guide on future urban development, and the effect on urban theory and practice, in accordance with the understanding of my individual.
