Geoscience study requires vast amount of spatially referenced data. The distribution nature of capture, process, storage and utilization of the spatial data needs a high efficient mechanism of data sharing and work collaboration. The upgrading of GIS to networking environment allows remote access to distributed and analutical functions. The key technique to realize this moving is the WebGIS technique. WebGIS, as the integration of Geographic Information System and the World Wide Web, will lead to an enormous increase of the accessibility of spatial data, and allow users to bring the power of GIS and Web to the study of geoscience.The purpose of the present study is to establish a WebGIS based application system for engineering seismology study. The system adopted the popular three-layer Browser/Server architecture consisting of browser, WebGIS application-server and GIS map-server. The browser send GIS request and display map with interactive user-interface. Soil conservation in the 21st century demands the support of information technology. Beijing management information system of soil and water conservation will provide information service and decision-making support for decision-making and scientific management of soil and water conservation for the state and local governments through collecting and fast processing of various soil water loss data. It is of great Significance to set up an inquiring information system of soil and water conservation based on Internet by means of combining the management system of soil and water conservation with Internet technology. By the comparison and analysis of all kinds of WebGIS, the system framework of constrcture of information management system of soil and water conservation based on internet technology is advanced in this paper.In our system ,the principle, implementation rule, development and relative technique connecting with WebGIS are explicated firsty. Then through absorbing advantage and shortcoming of this relative technique, to implement Beijing management information system of soil and water conservation based on GeoMedia Web Map. In this system , traditional function of GIS will be extent to Internet The WebGIS application-server receives request and dispatches it to proper map-server. The GIS map map-server processes user's request using available GIS applications and delivers the result to client. The system assume excellent applicability and commonality, and implement alternate operation and sharing of spatial information at Internet.
