Study On Effect Of Alfalfa Meal On Production Performance And Mechanism Of Sows

Effects of adding different level alfalfa meal to diet of sow on the performance and serum item of sows and its suckling piglets were studied in this experiments and the mechanisms were also initially discussed.In experiment 1, Using a single-factor and randomized block design ,48 multiparious Yorkshire sows ,whose mating date and parity were similar, was selected in order to study the effects of adding different amount of alfalfa meal to gestatonal diet on performance of sows and their piglets and economic benefit.The result showed that: (1) It increased feed intake of diet and its nutrient ingredient(P﹤0.05)；decreased the loss of Back-fat thickness during lactation,but they had no difference among the groups(P﹥0.05)。(2)Compared to control, piglets born of the treatment ,which additive amount of alfalfa meal in diet was 20%,were enhanced most: 12.78％(1.63pig)(P﹥0.05);and there was no significant difference in born litter weight .piglet weight gain and survival rate of piglet (P﹥0.05),but additive alfalfa meal increased significantly the numbers of weaned piglets and average litter daily weight gain (P﹤0.05).(3) Adding alfalfa meal to gestational diet decreased serum cholesterin (P﹤0.05).In the same time ,it decreased serum triglycerides and lower density cholesterin concentration,and increased the level of serum insulin.total protein.alkalescent phosphatic enzyme and high density cholesterin ,but no significant difference was deserved among them(P﹥0.05). (4)Additive alfalfa meal didn't affect insulin-like growth factor-Ⅰ.protein and solid not-fat concentration in colostrum of sows(P﹥0.05),but improved fat concentration in it (P﹤0.05).(5)Compared to control group ,economic benefit was also improved,and group4 was increased most: 30.73％(200.60yuan)。 Results of studies implied,reproductive performance in sows had certain improvement by adding alfalfa meal to gestational diet .It increased gradually when additive level of alfalfa meal improved,and decreased when its additive level came to 20%,which indicated 20% was suitable additive level of alfalfa meal in gestational diet.In experiment 2,48 multiparious Yorkshire, whose mating date and reproductive performance were similar, were divided into 6 treatments with 8 replicates per treatment and one sow per replicate according to the body condition and parity.All sows had ad-lititum access to feed and water. 0%(control),4%(group1),6%( group2),8%( group3),10%( group4),12%( group5) alfalfa meal were respectively added to diets of 6 groups . The experiment was conducted in order to study the effects of adding different levels alfalfa meal to lactating diet on performance and serum items of sows and their piglets,.milk composition.The result showed that :(1)there were no significant difference in interval between ablactation and oestrus and live piglets born among groups(P﹥0.05); weaning piglets and survival rate were significantly improved during lactation period when amount of alfalfa meal was increased(p<0.05); extremely significantly feed intake during the lactating sows, weaning litter weight ,litter weight gain,weaning average individual weight and average individual daily weight gain of piglets were enhanced(p<0.01)(2)serum cholesterin .triglycerides and lower density cholesterin concentration of sows were decreased,and at the same time the level of serum total protein.alkalescent phosphatic enzyme .,high density cholesterin of sows and insulin of sows and piglets were increased because of adding alfalfa meal to lactating diet,but no significant difference was observed in them(P﹥0.05);(3) insulin-like growth factor-Ⅰ in milk of sows was improved to a certain extent,but there was no significant difference(P﹥0.05). The study showed that it improved the performance of lactating sows and suckling piglets adding alfalfa meal to diet of sows,and the effect was significant when additive amount came to 10%.
