Jinhua is the principal cow-producing area in Zhejiang province. Dairy industry is the mainstay of local economic development, which is also an integrated agricultural system in the present situation. However, the annual average output of milk is about 4000-4500 Kg. Except for the cause of the cow varieties, the mastitis is the main factor. The cow mastitis is caused with pathogenic bacteria, most of which are Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococci and Escherichia coli, constituting over 90% of the mastitis cases. Whereas, the situation of bacteria infection have varies from places to places. Some cases originate from the Streptococci, and some stem from the Staphylococci. The thesis took the isolated identification of pathogenic bacteria of cow mastitis in Jinhua and had a drug sensitivity test of common antibiotics, then adopted the complex herbal medicine preparation-Gong Ying Rukang Liniment to prevent the pathogenic bacteria. Furthermore, observed its clinical curative effect on the cow mastitis.Ninety-eight strains bacteria were isolated from fifty milk samples of dairy cows mastitis in Jinhua area. Results showed that 42 strains of them were Staphylococci (42.86%), 18 were Streptococci (18.37%), 10 were Escherichia coli (10.2%). The cases of cow mastitis caused with Staphylococci, Streptococci and Escherichia coli were 71.43%, which indicated that the Staphylococcus aureus was the main pathogenic bacteria, and 82.72% were mixed with two-three or more than three types of bacteria. In addition, the drug sensitivity test presented that those pathogenic bacteria were resistant to Penicillin and Sstreptomycin frequently used, while Gentamicin, Amikacin, Ciprofloxacin and Lincomycin had fairly inhibiting effect on the pathogenic bacteria. The drug sensitivity test of the complex herbal medicine preparation-Gong Ying Rukang Liniment used on the cow mastitis was to determine the minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) to the three kinds of bacteria. The findings made clear that the preparation took greater effect on inhibiting the Staphylococcus aureus with its MIC (125mg/ml), the minor was the Streptococci with its MIC (250mg/ml), and the inferior was the Escherichia coli with its MIC (1000mg/ml).The comparative analysis of therapeutic effect of cow mastitis showed that Gong Ying Rukang Liniment had more efficient resistance to inflammation and detumescence than the concentrated antiphlosistic, even significant differences appeared with the overall effective rate reaching 62.5% and 37.5% respectively. Once the preparation combined with antibiotic achieved better treatment result.
