Evaluation Of Characters And Selection Of Thirty Samples Of Toona Sinensis

Toona sinensis is a proper plant of China named the sprout of Chinese Toon; and it is a primary variety of foresr-vegetable with tender shoots for eating. The sprout of Chinese Toon is a kind of traditional woody vegetable of our country with crisple, tender and succudent bud, full-bodied fragrance, aboundant nutrition with high edible and remedial functions.By studied and evaluated thirties plants of Toona sinensis with different origin, combined with analyzed of sixteen biological characters and three nutrition elements, sixteen single plants were preliminarily selected. The same time, the measure of clonal propagation of Toona sinensis was studied in order to provide theoretic base for characters evaluation of superior plants, selection and usage, cutting production and quick breeding of superior plants and dwarf culture.The results are summarized as follows:I . Evaluation and determination of character indexAnalysis of correlation and principal showed that selection indexes of plants of Toona sinensis axe mostly quality character. Excellent indexes of character analysis are preliminarily determinated: the color of bud scale , the hair of bud scale, the color of tender leaf, the shape of little leaf, the luster of little leaf, the color of compound leafstalk, the array of little leaf , the color of leafstalk.II. Selection of excellent single plantsThough practical investigation and the total scores of each index of samples, the results show that seventeen superior plants of Toona sinenis are elected: No. 26(Yunxi), 21(Blood Chinese toon), 12,19(Shizishan), 25(Guangxi), 24(Yunxian), 23(Henan), 29(Red Chinese toon), 18 (Zuxi) , 11, 3, 7, 10, 27(Guchen), 1, 17(Badong). They all have good compound characters and adapt to wildly propagate and generalize.III. Effect of different treat on the survival rate of cutting of Toona sinensis.The effect cutting wood width and length on the survival rate showed significant difference; the treatment time has no eminent effect; top seal in initial stage shows more significant difference than cutting wood position; the cutting position produces definite effect in the anaphase of cutting; the quicksets from the base of the parent plant root more easily than the quicksets from the apex of the parent plant.The best managment of the survival rate of cutting of Toona sinensis is: the time of medical treatment is 15 seconds + the middle-apical quickset + top sealed with wax + cutting wood length is beyond 12 centimeter + cutting wood width is beyond 0.8 centimeter.
