The task roots in national nature science fund item [item number-50365001]- "the studying of the key technology of intelligent design system of sugarcane harvester based on knowledge " was launched. The assignment is that designs the stepped mechanism of small -scale sugarcane harvester for the southern region of China, especially for the terrain of GuangXi province. This thesis puts forward two design plan, they are the way of wheel and predrail stepped system. In virtue of virtual prototyping technique, we can process simulation by three-dimension visual technology, and carry out outcome analysis and judgment. This paper adopts the virtual prototyping technique software ADAMS to analyze and research. It mainly includes the research approach and course of the stepped performance of the stepped system of the small-scale sugarcane harvester, firstly analyzes the soil-factor of influencing stepped performance and appraising guideline, and establishes soil numerical model, then the emphases is to study the relation between the stepped mechanism and soil, namely the Kinematicsanalysis of stepped performance.They are mainly included as follows: the stepped mechanism model is made of CAD software, and properly simplified, and combined with the numerical model of soil. On basis of this, we carry on simulation analyzing and data processing of some results by using the virtual prototyping technique software ADAMS, and synthetically analyze and calculate the simulation result and the data of measure the loaded soil, then get the conclusion and judge the stepped performance of the stepped mechanism, finally calculate the power of stepped system by using the simulation results and design conditions. This method can improve the designing quality of stepped system, and provide the good method and means for the product design and research of the stepped system of the small-scale sugarcane harvester.
