With the development of animal husbandry, the maize straw is favored more and more by peasant as the ensilage . The statistics show, straw ensilage is popularized about 200 million tons every year at home, the rate of the straw as feedingstuff always raises and up to about 30%, which can economize grain as feedingstuff more than 20 million tons. It has made a contribution to alleviating the imbalance between supply and demand of grain of our country. However, the ensiling of the straw takes the measure of underground ensiling mainly at present, there are many processes; the labour intensity of transport and sealing up for safekeeping is great; Need investment and place; straw is apt to wasting and going mouldy. These problems can be solved by the following means: Cut straw into pieces, then compress and bundle them up, finally airproof them with plastic and stockpile them aboveground.Compression is the first step of straw exploiting and using after being cut. This research included many aspects: research on the rheology characteristic of the straw after being rub and cut in the process of being compressed, finding the rules of compressive stress, compressed distortion, distortion comeback and stress flab in this process, offering gist to the theoretical foundation of device optimization design; Offer key technical support for the new method to develop maize straw ensiling.This text study "closing type" compression using equipment designed by myself. The results are as following: The compression course of the maize straw in the closing type container can be divided into the loose, transition and compressing tightly 3 stages. In loose stage (p:0~0.08MPa), the model is γ =a+bp, linearity relations prove that deformation is the process of overcoming interspaces of the maize straw .The compression density of the maize straw augment rapidly; In transition stage(p:0.08MPa~0.2MPa), the model is γ=ap~b. The compression density of the maize straw augment slowiy; In compressing tightly stage(p> 0.2MPa), the model is γ=ap~b. Compression density of the maize straw slowly meets the test request.This text study "opening type "compression using equipment designed by myself. In compression chamber the maize straw undergo three stages. Through analysis on the straw character in the first and the second stage, compression frequency is confirmed.the measure that restrain the distortion comeback in the first stage is brought forward, the relation between the maximum pressure and feeding quantity is brought forward, the basis which can confirm the maximum pressure is found out. Through computer simulating, feeding quantity critical value and the principle in which the maximum pressure change as the feeding quantity changing are obtained.According to the data and the results, some main design parameters are obtained. In the structural design of the compression machine, we have designed the hydraulic pressure system especially. The parameters of the hydraulic organ have been calculated, operation cycle is 40s; the pressure of the oil pump is 16Mpa; the displacement is 40M1. According to design parameter of grass tie, the size of the compression chamber and the structural are obtained.
