The root of Wu-He Dipsacus is one of the best genuine drugs in Enshi. In this thesis, some chemical constituents of the roots of Wu-He Dipsacus of different growing years are studied, including the analysis of zinc, lead, cadmium and mercury; the determinations of alkaloids, polysaccharide and soluble sugar, protein and amino acid. Some biological characters of Wu-He Dipsacus Root are also initially studied, including its morphology, the structure of its root, the propensities in its life, etc. At the same time, by analyzing the special geographical and ecological environment, establishing the yielding base of Wu-He Dipsacus and discussing that the rules in production base of Chinese crude drugs GAP (Good Agricultural Practice) fulfilling, it provides full and accurate theoretical basis for the further development and utilization of Wu-He Dipsacus Root. The results are the following:Wu-He Dipsacus is abound with active ingredients, part of them is determined. Results show that the relative increase of contents of alkaloids and polysaccharide and the relative decrease of soluble sugar in Wu-He Dipsacus roots with the adding of Wu-He Dipsacus' growing years, amino acid will reduce relatively, while the little protein content will not change obviously. According to the comparison of the different parts, except protein, the contents of alkaloids, amino acid, polysacharose and soluble sugar in the root are much more than the ones in the stalk and the ones in the leaves. It shows that alkaloids, amino acid, polysacharose and soluble sugar are mainly distribute in the root, and the contents of them are the most in Wu-He Dipsacus roots of growing three years. The contents of inorganic elements in Wu-He Dipsacus are different in its different growing years. This plant root is rich in trace element Zn and the content of Zn is increasing with its growing years. The contents of the heavy metal elements Pb, Cr and Hg are much lower than the GB. Those limited elements have adequate safe quality, so Wu-He Dipsacus are suitable for practicing GAP.By comparing the contents of all ash elements, the biomass, the accumulation of the active ingredients and the contents of the limited elements in cultivated Wu-He Dipsacus root to those in its wild form, Results show that the quality of cultivated form is superior to that of its wild form in the same environment.
