With the resistance of rusts,powdery mildew,BYDV,drought and cold tolerance,high protein content and easy crossing with common wheat Thinopyron intermedium (Host) B.D.is an important wild spcies source for improvement of cultivated wheat.It has been used extensively for hybridzation with wheat.By chromosome engineering, many alien chromosome lines have been produced from wheat-Th.intermedium. To speed up and purposely use these useful traits, six wheat-Th.intermedium alien chromosome lines were analysed by morphological, cytologic and the cytogenetic identification. The main results are as follows: 1. Morphological characteritics of six wheat-Th.intermedium alien chromosome lines were uniform and distinct. The resistance to stripe rust of wheat-Th.intermedium Line 1,Line 2,Line 3和Line 4 were similar to that of Zhong No.2. 2. The chromosome numbers in root tip of wheat-Th.intermedium Line 1,line 2,line 3,line 4 and line 6 were 44,and their chromosome configurations at PMC MI were 2n=22II; the chromosome numbers in root tip of wheat-Th.intermedium Line 5 was 42, and their chromosome configurations at PMC MI was 2n=21II. 3. The results of chromosome configurations at PMC MI of hybrid F1 between six wheat-Th.intermedium lines and Abbondanza were showed that, F1 of (line1, line 4 and line6)×Abb.with 2n=21II+1I,that means Line 1,line 4 and line6 were alien addition lines; F1 of line2×Abb with 2n=20II+3I, that means line 2 was alien addition substitution line ; F1 of line 3×Abb with 2n=21II+1I mainly and 2n=20II+3I partially that means Line 3 was not only alien addition but also translocation line possibly ; F1 of line1×Abb with 2n=20II+2I that means Line 5 was alien substitution line. 4. The genomic DNA of Thinopyrum intermedium labeled as probe,the six lines were analysed by genomic in situ hybridization(GISH). The result showed that, wheat-Th.intermedium Line 1,Line 4 and Line 6(2n=44) with two Th.intermedium chromosomes ,were alien addition lines; Line 2(2n=44) with four Th.intermedium chromosomes, were alien addition substitution line; wheat-Th.intermedium Line 3(2n=44) with two Th.intermedium chromosomes and two wheat-Th.intermedium translocation chromosomes, were alien addition translocation line ; wheat-Th.intermedium line 5(2n=42) with two Th.intermedium chromosomes, was alien substitution.
