This paper firstly summarizes the current situation and develop trend of short-rotation industrial forest. Then, the author propose the thought of short-rotation industrial forest management mode based on the relevant principle of forest mensuration, forest management, silviculture, forestry systems engineering and forest ecology. The main idea of management mode of short-rotation industrial forest is: according to the request of multi-benefits and social functions for the short-rotation industrial plantations, use the thought of digital engineering, design a management technology system which includes the specific management goal, technological pattern and the measurements of managing. Supported by the modern forestry's science and technology, this theory reflects the characteristic of the systematicness, practiceness and standardization in the forest management.Under the guidance of the management philosophy of the system, this paper establishes the overall frame of the management information system of short-rotation industrial forest. The pulpwood forest information system for Tiger Forest & Paper Group Co. is taken as example, to set up the attribute database with Access, to carry on the secondary development of geographical information system with Delphi and MapObjects. A platform of the integrated management and administration of pulpwood forest is set up for forestry enterprise. The thought and method of digital is explored and management for the basic forestry unit is elaborated. A helpful exploration and practice for digital forestry's construction and development has been made in this paper.
