The grassland is the biggest landscape, also the prerequisite production resource of the livestock husbandry development. The pasture in the northwest part of China is also an important ecosystem barrier in the meantime. However, because of serious overloading graze, and the management dropping behind, desertification occurs in different extent in semiarid and sub-moist regions of northwestern China.For the sake of preventing grassland-desertification, and based on the"3S"technicals, Rangeland Animal Husbandry Management Information System (RAHMIS) of Yanchi County is researched and established in this paper. RAHMIS integrated foundational information of the example region, such as Remote Sensing image, landform map, regionalization map, soil and vegetation distributing, socioeconomic statistic data etc. Forage-animal balance management can be carried out with the help of RAHMIS. The quality and carrying capacity of nature rangeland in this area was estimated based on RAHMIS. As a result, the quality of nature rangeland in Yanchi County was evaluated to medium and inferior level. The proper carrying capacity of nature rangeland is 407.9 thousand sheep unit in a normal year. And there is nonexistence of overload at present. For continuable development of stock raising, and on the principle of forage-animal balance, the usage of nature grassland was programmed. The auther suggested that a madol production of stock raising like"no grazing and feeding in sheepfold, grazing rotation, herding and feeding"should be put into practice instead of the policy of herding-forbidden. Finally, several thematic maps were accomplished in this research, including the density map of carrying capacity, the evaluation of nature rangeland quality, the map of natural grassland usage programming, etc.
