The ways of fermentation with anaerobic microbe, nylon bag, raising and some of nutrition techniques were used in this paper to study the effect of fermentation on cottonseed-hull. With the experiment close to practice, the comparative effects of fermentation in laboratory and factory were studied. The comparative study of rumen degradation on cottonseed-hull before and after fermentation was also done. And the last, the effects of fermented cottonseed-hull on dairy performance were studied with feed tests.In experiment 1, Cottonseed-hull and comminuted cottonseed-hull were fermented with complexing strains of microbials including EM and probiotics, using seven pairs of formulation have been formed by corn meal, molasses and fecula combined with urea and zein meal. The results indicated that the best combination was urea and molasses, the highest detoxifcation rate of comminuted cottonseed-hull and cottonseed-hull was 75.4% and 74.2%, the content of crude protein (CP) increased by 4.14% and 3.42%,NDF decreased by 12.69% and 11.72%,ADF decreased by 12.17% and 9.05%, at the same time, the number of microorganism cells reached 15.5 billions and 14.45 billions per gram of the feed respectively. The nutrient value of cottonseed hull was great significantly improved than fermented before(p<0.01),but the detoxifcation rate was no difference between comminuted cottonseed-hull and cottonseed-hull(p>0.05),which using the same formulation.In experiment 2, Because it's difficult and time-consuming to comminute cottonseed-hull, A great deal of cottonseed-hull was fermented with the formulation consisting of urea and molasses which screened by experiment 1. After the detoxifcation rate, the content of CP,NDF and ADF were measured, the effects of fermentation on cottonseed-hull was compared between the factory and the laboratory. The results showed the rate of detoxifcation reached 73.0%, the content of CP increased by 2.58%, the number of microorganism cells reached 10.55 billions per gram of the feed, NDF and ADF decreased by 9.74% and 7.52% respectively. The nutrient value of cottonseed hull was improved great significantly than fermented before(p<0.01), but compared with the effects of laboratory, only the detoxifcation rate and the content of NDF was no difference(p>0.05). As a result, it's available to produce in factory.In experiment 3, 3 Holstein steers about 3-years-old fitted with ruminal cannulas were used to investigated the kinetic change and the rumen degradation of DM, CP, NDF and ADF on cottonseed-hull. Results showed that the effective degradability of DM, CP, NDF and ADF on control reached 34.29%, 56.86%,30.6% and 28.1% respectively, every index of treatment except NDF was high significantly than...
