Characteristics of nutrient concentrations of six common species Fatsia japonica, Rhododendron simsii, Euonymus japonicus, Reineckia carnea, Trifolium repens and Iris tectorum were investigated in this study. The results showed as follows.(1) The contents of N, P, K and Ca in goden privent are higher than those in azalea cultured on open site.(2) The contents of N, P and K in 3 herbs are higher than those in shrubs cultivated on the site of woods edge. Comparing three kinds of herbaceous species, white clover has the highest contents of N, pinkreineckea has the higher contents of Ca and Mg compared with the others, the contents of K in these 3 herbs are similar. For the shrubs, goden privent has the higher contents of N and K compared with the others, japan fatsia has the hingher contents of P and Mg compared with other, and the content of Ca is almost silmilar in these 3 shrubs.(3) Comparing nutrient concentent in the herbs with shrubs cultured on understory site, the contents of N, P and K in herbs are higher the contents of N, P and K than in shrubs. For 3 herbs, the contents of N, P and K in white clover are higher than those in pinkreineckea herb, but the content of Ca and Mg for these two herbs are closer; the contents of P, K and Ca in japan fatsia are higher than those in azalea, but the content of N and Mg for these two shrubs are closer.(4) For three sites, the contents of different nutrient elements in six groundcover plants cultured on open site have the highest correlation, but that of cultured on the site of woods edge have the lowest correlation among nutrient contents.(5) The contents of N and Ca of japan privent are higher cultured on site of understory than on woods edge, while the contents of Mg are higher cultured on the site of woods edge than on site of understory.(6) For that cultured on site of understory, the contents of N and K of azalea are the highest, but the contents of P,Ca and Mg are closer.(7) Comparing nutrient contens in different species that cultured on different sites, the contents of N and K of in golden-margined Japanese spindle-tree cultured on site of woods edge are higher than that of on open site; the contents of P and Mg of golden-margined Japanese spindle-tree cultured on open site are higher than under woods edge, but content of Ca in golden-margined Japanese spindle-tree cultured on different sites have not significant difference. (8) The contents of N, P, Ca and Mg of pinkreineckea herb cultured on site of woods edge are higher than that of on site of understory; the contents of K of golden-margined Japonese spindle-tree cultured on site of understory are higher than that of on the site of woods edge.(9) The contents of N, K and Ca of white clover cultured on the site of understory are higher than that of on woods edge, but the content of N and Mg for white clover cultured on both sites of understory and woods edge are similar.
