Study On The Methods Of Raising Self-fruitful Rate And Pollination Characteristics Of Alfalfa

Alfalfa is the self-incompatibility plant. In order to breed fine homozygous the gene, eliminate bad genes, raise self-fruitful rate, foster alfalfa varieties of strong advantages, using Medicago varia Martin.cv. Xinmu No.1. as tested materials, different methods were studied to raise the self-fruitful rate of alfalfa, such as peel selfting,delayed selfing and the five different chemical agents (combination).The flowering habits, tripping phenomenon of alfalfa and the relation of different inhbreeding ways and fecundity of alfalfa. Under isolation conditions of net room which were studied. The main results were as follows:1. Peel selfing, delayed selfing could raise self-fruitful rate and index of self-compatibility of alfalfa, when pollination was on bud stageâ…£, the pod-setting percentage was 45.29% by peel selfting, compatibility index was 0.741.When pollination was on the fourth day after flowering, the pod-setting percentage was 33.14% by delayed selfing, compatibility index was 0.506.2. Self-fruitful rate and index of self-compatibility of alfalfa could be raised by using treatment of acetone solution, GA3, NaCl + B solution,which had obvious effect by using 6% acetone solution, 250 mg/L GA3 and 4% acetone, the pod-setting percentag were 42.56 %, 40.20% and 39.27%, respectively. High index of self-compatibility were 6% acetone solution, 0.5% NaCl +0.1% B and 4% acetone solution, index of self-compatibility were 0.723, 0.654 and 0.592, respectively.3. Flowering time per day was no significant difference in inside the network and outside the network. At initial bloom stage, every flower bloomed about 9 am., peak flowering bloomed between 2 pm. and 4 pm., the flower stoped at 7 pm. At anthesis, every flower was floweing at eight and half on the morning, peak flowering was between 10 and 12 am., the flower stoped at 8 pm.4. At anthesis, each raceme took about 1-6 d for all florets to bloom from bottom to top of each raceme, the florets lasted 8-12 d before wilting after blooming, the keel petals could not self-trip in inside the network. Each raceme took about 1-4 d for all florets to bloom from bottom to top of each raceme, the flowers self-tripped in 1-2 h under the action of insects and then wilted in 2-4 h after blooming in outside the network.5. Compatibility index of different inbreeding ways had significant difference in alfalfa varieties.The highest of compatibility index was cross pollination coming different plant which was 1.108, open-pollinated of anthesis outside the network, open-pollinated of initial bloom stage outside the network, cross pollination in one plant, same pollination in one plant, self bagging at anthesis and free pollination inside the network, compatibility index of which was 0.779,0.505,0.240,0.167,0.105,0.101 and 0.074, respectively.
