Agricultural modernization and information will be a main developing direction of agriculture in future. Wireless sensor network (WSN) is a new network monitoring technology, which is closely related to sensor technology, embedded computing technology, computer network technology, modern communication technology, distributed information processing technology, software development technology, and so on. It is a typical interdisciplinary and knowledge highly integrated high-tech science and technology. There will be of high practical value when WSN is applied in agriculture.In this thesis, the features of a large strawberry park were analyzed. The study on environmental monitoring system of the strawberry park based on wireless sensor network was carried out. The main contributions and innovations of the thesis were as follows:1. The background and significance of the topic studied in this thesis were analyzed. The relevant researches at home and abroad were summarized. The main contents of the thesis were presented.2. The integral structure of strawberry park monitoring system based on wireless sensor network was proposed. The system is mainly consisted of sensor nodes, aggregation nodes and management nodes. The ZigBee protocol was applied in the communication among sensor nodes. The data transmission between the aggregation node and management node was done through the GPRS network.3. Soil moisture, air temperature and humidity, light intensity and other information of the strawberry park were monitored by the monitoring system. The power of sensor nodes was supplied by batteries and solar cells. 4. The data transmission between the aggregation node and management node was done through the GPRS network. GPRS network featured a wide coverage range and the low cost for users. It was suitable for the wild or poor condition of environment.5. A PC-based management platform of the monitoring system was developed. The key functions of the management platform included storing information sent from the aggregation node, displaying the real-time information and historical information. The management platform was developed in Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0 Integrated Development Environment and it was easy to operate.After testing, the monitoring system could basically achieve the expected design objectives. Contrasting to the traditional agricultural information monitoring systems, this kind of monitoring system had advantages of low energy consumption, low cost, universal applicability, flexible extension, ease of installation, and the overall monitoring for the monitoring area.
