With the improvement of people's appreciation of landscape, leaf-colored plants are applied to landscape gradually, leaf-colored plants of Prunus is a large class of the plants with color. But leaf-colored plants of Prunus turns green in summer, for the purpose of getting better varieties, using Prunus salicina×Prunus atropurupurea and Prunus salicina cv.'angenuo'as parents for hybridization in this study, through the analysis and contrast of the morphological, physiological, biochemical and genetic diversities of parents and hybrids, the hybrids with superior strains of red leaves were selected, the genetic stability of traits of red leaves was tested, in order to provide a theoretical basis of the cultivation of new varieties in leaf-colored plants of Prunus. The results indicated that: through the analysis and contrast of height and grand line diameter, the a*, the anthocyanin pigment content and the relative content of anthocyarinl, according to the principle that the measured greater than the average is to be the superior strains plant,10 superior strains plant were selected, which were No.1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 10, 11, 12, 15, 16 plants. The comparative study of a* between superior strains of hybrids and female parent showed that at May to September a* of the superior hybrids and female parent were highly significant differences, the a* of No.2, 3, 4 plants were significant higher than the female parent. In July or August the anthocyanin content of superior strains and the female parent are the lowest. The comparative study of anthocyanin content between superior strains of hybrids and female parent showed that, in different months the anthocyanin content of No.11 plant was higher than female parent's and the average of all superior strains, and the difference with the female parent was significant. The comparative study of relative content of anthocyanin between superior strains and female parent showed that, in different months the relative content of anthocyanin of No.11 plant was higher than female parent's. Comparing the average of the relative content of anthocyanin in different months found the relative content of anthocyanin in No.1, 3, 11 plants were higher than the female parent, and the difference between them was significant. From May to September, the toward trend of PAL activity of the superior hybrids and female parent showed increase - decrease - increase, the months of their minimum were inconsistent, the PAL activity in No.1, 4, 7, 10, 11, 12, 16 plants were higher than the female parent in different months. Correlation analysis showed that the relationship between a* in leaves and the content of anthocyanin, chlorophyll, carotenoids was significantly correlated. The relationship between the content of anthocyanin and the content of chlorophyll, the activity of PAL, CHI, PPO was also significantly related.Using the random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) markers technique to analyze the genetic diversity among P. salicina×P. Atropurupurea and P. salicina cv.'angenuo'and the 10 hybrids. 15 primers were screened from 100 random primers, and they were amplified in the 10 hybrids and their parents. The results showed that 15 primers amplified 89 polymorphic bands, the total percentage of polymorphic loci was 93.54%, the average Shannon information index was 0.4298, and the average Nei's genetic diversity index was 0.3574. The dendrogram based on genetic distance was constructed in accordance with the un-weighted pai-group method using an arithmetic average (UPGMA). The dendrogram showed the No.1 plant had the closest relationship with the female parent plant, the No.15 and 16 plant had the largest difference with their parents.
