This study was supported by the State Forestry Bureau "948" Project "The import of forest biological engineering technology for urban river ecosystem". Based on the advanced ecological protection technique both at home and abroad, four kinds of ecological bank protection techniques including riprap integrating with plant cutting, plant slope protection, natural materials fabic pad, geotextile flat bag are applied on the river bank of Taohua river in Chongqing city, and conducted for continuous ecological monitoring. By analyzing the Soil condition effect, the stability of river bank with evaluation of the ecological recovery technique were evaluated by principal component analysis.In soil condition effect, from the aspects of in the soil structure, soil nutrient, soil anti-erodibility and soil shear-resistance, the natural materials fabic pad and plant bank protection played better effects, and from the aspects of soil structure and soil nutrient, geotextile flat bag performed poorer. However, due to the geotextile flat bag had the function of packing soil and gentle slope, which gave a better bank-slops stability. The soil environment is better in the the areas near water than the areas far from water. The soil structure, soil nutrient, soil anti-erodibility in the topsoil were better than those in the shallow soil, but the diggrtrnvr was not notable.It is found that the major indices affecting the bank stability are breakage percentage of aggregate reflecting erosion durability of soil and the content of waterstable aggregate after selecting from the measurement index of bank slope, using PCA estimation of stability. It can be seen from the synthesize exponential value, the stability of the fabric pad made of natural material and vegetation bank protection is better than bank protection made of manual fabric bag and Naturo Pharm half-naked field.Therefore, considering on the stability of the bank and growth characteristic of vegetation, it is necessary to exploit the fabric pad made of natural material and vegetation bank protection along the bank of Taohua brook. It is important to the improvement of ecological and landscape effect of along the bank.
