Urban greening is one of the key factors of the construction of Livable city. Urban greening can not only create huge ecological benefits, but also meet the needs of people's closing to the green, which is a bridge of communication between man and nature. The urban greening assessment work of Livable city could provide the evaluation standard and development direction to the greening construction of Livable city. This study chooses two greening evaluation methods of Livable city from different scales and aspects, and then the greening situation of Beijing is evaluated as an example.(1) This paper expounds the concept and connotation of Livable city, and details the key functions of urban greening in the construction of Livable city.(2) This paper has built up an Urban Greening Evaluation Indicators System of Livable City, with reference to many domestic and international texts, with purpose of quantification, objectivity and availability, using greystatistical method and a comprehensive fuzzy evaluation method that integrates triangular fuzzy numbers with AHP.(3) A quantitative and systematic analysis of current greening situation in Beijing has been made according to the greening evaluation system of Livable city. The result shows that the Livable greening point of Beijing is 67.6, which is middle level. The evaluation result could give the basis of theory to the future development of greening in Beijing. It also benefits the construction of livable city in Beijing, further optimization of layout and structure of urban greening, promotion of various functions and benefits playing effectively of urban greening, such as ecological, economic and social functions, and so on. It could provide relevant information to construction of livable city across the country.(4) This paper takes Beijing as study area, and uses the principle of Social Network to collect public information of residents in Beijing that could reflect the satisfaction towards greening environments of their living areas. The results show that about half of residents of our inquiry are satisfied with their living areas'greening atmosphere, but the ratio of residents with great satisfaction is small. And ratio of residents with great dissatisfaction occupies 15%.(5) According to the public satisfaction levels, this paper divides 207 residential districts investigated on the spot into 6 categories. And public desirability of greening landscapes is also investigated. The results show that the characteristics of the greening landscapes that have the highest public desirability are moderate vegetation density, openness and availability of green lands, semi-wide field of vision, landscape designs close to nature, narrow and tortuous paths and water body in the green lands.At last, the urban greening evaluation system of Livable city is compared with 4 different evaluation systems at the national level currently used in China, which are analyzed for their comparability, simplicity, objectivity, and accessibility. The system we studies meets well criterion of comparability and objectivity, but not meet other two criteria in certain degrees. This paper also summarizes the positive environmental characteristics of residential districts and the operability of public participation in the designing and evaluation of residential greening.
