Agri-climatic zoning is an important basis for rational use of natural resources and optimization of agricultural structure which plays an important role in agriculture, rural and regional economic development. Thus agri-climatic zoning is necessary. Based on climate data from 1971 to 2009 of 86 meteorological stations, longan and banana are selected as research objects to get crop planting climatic zoning maps of Guangdong Province. According to spatial analysis model, spatial distributions of climate resources for Guangdong Province and county-level city are obtained. The results can be provided for agricultural sector to optimize agricultural layout especially for poor mountainous areas to increase economic efficiency.In this paper following contents are researched:(1) Division of climatic resources. Based on climatic data and geographic information of 86 stations by using GIS technique and spatial analysis models, raster distributions maps of each meteorological element with grid resolution of 1km2 are obtained.Meanwhile distribution and variation of climate resources in Guangdong province for 40 years are analyzed.(2) Agricultural climatic regionalization for longan. Indexes of climatic division for longan planting are identified through correlation analysis between longan yields and climatic factors from 1992 to 2005.By GIS technique, longan cultivation zoning map of Guangdong Province is done. The most suitable region accounts for 14%, suitable region accounts for 43%, sub-suitable region accounts for 23% and unsuitable region accounts for 20%.(3) Agricultural climatic regionalization for banana. Indexes of climatic division for banana planting are identified through correlation analysis between banana yields and climatic factors from 1992 to 2005.By spatial analysis of GIS, banana planting climatic zoning map of Guangdong Province is done based on comprehensive standard. The most suitable region accounts for 17%, suitable region accounts for 18%, sub-suitable region accounts for 25% and unsuitable region accounts for 40%.(4) Climatic resources zoning for YangShan and Ruyuan.On the basis of climatic data from 2008 to 2010 of three-dimensional climate observation stations in Nanling, decline rate differences of meteorological elements between north and south are analyzed. By using GIS technique, raster distributions of main meteorological elements of YangShan and Ruyuan with grid resolution of 100m×100m are worked out. The hierarchical division of Nanling could improve utilization of mountain climate resources and optimize agricultural production structure.In this paper, by using GIS technique and model of climatology, climatic resources zoning and agricultural climatic regionalization for longan and banana are worked out. Zoning results not only contain affluent geographical information but contain three-dimensional characters of climate resources to optimize space allocation of zoning crops. Future work will focus on accuracy adjusted and hazard regionalization.
