Csphalataxus fortunei Hook.f. is an age-old relict plant, an evergreen arbor endemic to China. It provides significant values in not only scientific research but also economy. And it shows graceful dancing and even orderly distribution of branches, with thick glossy evergreen needle-shaped leaves symmetrically arranged on small branches which lools elegant. When the fruit comes ripe, the red fruits takes up the tree which match the green leaves well and give an exquisite sight. This gives a high value of ornamental and landscape. According to the experts, the fuzzy analytic hierarchy process (AHP) is adopted to establish the evaluation system of landscape type which can help to select the variety with higher ornamental value. In order to maintain the excellent properties of the parent and to fulfill requirement of garden landscaping of rapid propagation, the research of cutting technique and rooting mechanism is made by cutting from selected tree. The main results are as following:1.Through comparing and selecting, four types with special phenotype and high ornamental are sorted out: type with drooping branches, type with dark green leaves, type of early fruited within growth of 45 years, type with dense leaves. Cutting experiment shows that type with drooping branches is the easiest to survive, and the average survival rate is 93.0%. The next is type with dense leaves, and type of early fruited within growth of 45 years and type with dark green leaves have low survival rates. the excellent properties of the type with dense leaves is easier to maintain, and type with drooping branches, type with dark green leaves are difficult to maintain their properties and prone to mutation.2.The fuzzy AHP method is adopted to establish an evaluation system of landscape type of Csphalataxus fortunei Hook.f. and the evaluation factor and its weight is determined. With the help of the system, NO.15, NO.11, NO.35, NO.8, NO.27, were selected as ranking one. This model illuminates the significance of determining the indicators and their importance from both sides of self ornamental and progression of branches and leaves, and can provide a scientific basis for the evaluation.3.Cutting experiments in different months show that April is the best cutting season, with the callus within 16 days, rooting within 27 days, survival rate of 94%, rooting rate of 88%, root number of 8.2, and root length of 5.6cm. The rooting rates of cuttings range in a decreasing order: April>January>November>September>July. Survival rates range in a decreasing order: April=January>November>September>July. C.fortuneis orthogonal cutting tests prove that the best theoretical combination is A3B2C2, Which adopts the biennial cuttings and soaks in the ABT1 with a concentration of 200ppm and maintain 2h, and will get the best rooting rate. Orthogonal tests for different micro-environments showed that the order of the three factors in affecting progression dilution solution is WPM> cutting medium> ABT1 concentration, and the best treatment combination is WPM solution diluted 100 times and ABT1 concentration of 0.05mg·L-1 solution treatment and fine sand.4.Rooting mechanism study shows that soluble sugar, water and nitrogen content within the cuttings varies with the rooting progress in a certain rule. Soluble sugar, water and nitrogen content decline in the time of callus formation t and the rooting, which is likely to provide the requisite energy and substance for the formation of callus and adventitious roots. In the later stage, the water and nitrogen content rise and further tend to be balanced, which is likely to be that the forming root absorbed some nutrients from the surroundings. The rooting process is promoted together by the change of the hormones like IAA,ABA,and GA3 etc and the nutrients in the burgeon. The fluctuating curve of the hormone content in burgeon can indicate the formation process of callus and adventitious roots, and a large value of IAA/ABA is in favor of the formation of adventitious roots...
