From 2004 to 2005,Experiments were carried out to study the anabolism and metabolism of pigments, carbohydrate, nitrogenous compounds and flavour components and the absorption of nutrients in flue-cured tobacco leaves with YY85 from Panxi region Sichuan province during the growth and development stages. The main results were as follows: 1 The contents of pigments during development stagesThe pattern of chlorophyll content was increased at earlier stages and then exhibited a decline during later stages,it showed a sharp decline after 60d age. The chlorophyll degradation of lugs was relatively slower during maturity period, and the degradation of uppers was faster. During development stages, the degradation rate of chlb and chla was diferrent, and the ratio of chla/ total chlorophyll was gradually declined. The contents of cartenoids were less step by step during the maturity period of flue-cured tobacco leaves in Panxi region. The contents of aromatic components in the lugs of flue-cured tobacco leaves come from the cartenoids were increased step by step during the end of maturity period, but there were not in cutters. The contents of Damascenone were more and more during the maturity period, but the contents of Dihydroactinolide were decreased. β-inone was little during maturity period of flue-cured tobacco leaves and it was non in the end. The contents of Megastig matrienones increased during the maturity period. The correlations between cartenoids and aromatic components come from the cartenoids during the maturity period were also studied. 2 The contents of carbohydrate during development stagesThe contents of total soluble sugar had two peaks appeared of each node during development stages, and the lugs was appeared on 40d and 60d, the cutters was appeared on 30d and 70d. The uppers were significantly higher than the lugs and the cutters during the earlier stages, In the medium growth period, it maintained at a relatively stable, and it had a slight increase during the later of maturity periods. The content of starch was remain at a lower level during the earlier periods, and then rising rapidly. The rule of different stalk position was difference. The main stages of starch accumulate during 30-50 days after the leaf appeared. In the previous 40 days...
