We designed two experiments to study the effects of glucose and conjugated linoleic acid (CLA ) on milk production in goats. Mammary uptake of nutrients was estimated through assaying arteriovenous differences and blood flow measurements to evaluate the effects of glucose and CLA on lipid metabolism and the mechanism that glucose and CLA inhibits milk fat synthesis.Experiment one: Four Laoshan lactating dairy goats fitted with permanent abmasal fistulae and embedded carotid under the skin.Glucose or water (0,50,100,150g/d)was continuously infused in the abomasal , to observe the lactating capability, plasma metabolites and mammary metabolize .The results show:â‘ The glucose abomasal infusion increased the milk yield (P<0.01), decreased milk fat content and yield in 100g/d and 150g/d doze groups(P<0.01), but in the lowest doze group(50g/d), milk fat content was not affect obviously, and the milk fat yield increase noticeably(P<0.01) ; the content of milk protein and SNF were similar in all treatment groups, but the yield of milk protein increased in the treatment groups(P<0.01), the yield of SNF increased in the 50g/d doze group. Lactose content and yeild increase in 50g/d doze group but were not affected in other treatment groups.â‘¡Plasma glucose content increased in the highest doze group. Plasma insulin content were not affected by the infusion.â‘¢The concentration of TG in the artery decreased in the glucose treatment groups. The concentration of NEFA in the artery tend to decrease (P=0.06);â‘£The glucose infusion caused linear increase(P=0.07)of the de novo fat acid concentration (C4-C14:1), and decrease of the long chain fatty acid (FA) in 100g/d doze group and 150g/d doze group(P<0.01) . The yield of C16, >16C milk FAs were decreased greatly in the 100g/d and 150g/d doze group.
