Study On Quality, Yield And Biological Property Of Coptis Chinensis Of Different Varieties

Coptis chinensis Franch widespread in forest and valley at 800-2000m. The root of Coptis chinensis Franch be used as medicine. Coplis chinensis Franch can be used in the treatment of fever, diarrhea and as analgesic or anti-inflammatory agents. Pharmacological experiment indicated that total alkaloids and berberine are the basically active substance. As a famous Chinese traditional medicine, Coplis chinensis Franch be recorded by the pharmacopoeia of P.R.C for many times.In the review, the author summarized the morphological characteristics and historical changes of planting of Coptis chinensis Franch. The germplasm resources of medicinal plan, the key factor of the production Chinese traditional medicine , is the base of breeding new varieties of Chinese herbs. Current situation of the research on the germplasm resources of medicinal plant in China was introduced .The author carried out the experiments in 2003-2005 to compare and study the biological properties, yield and quality of the three varieties (Dahuaye, Wuguangye ,Xiaohuaye) that bred in GAP cultivation habitat in Fubaoshan, Hubei province.We observed the biological properties and collected the samples every year in the field that was stochastically designed in past three-years. The result indicated that the number of leaves and sprouts of Dahuaye and Wuguangye were significant larger than that of Xiaohuaye(P<0.05 ) , but there was no significant difference among the three varieties on the height (P>0.05 ) .Weighting by stoving was used to determine the weight, the result showed that there was no significant differences among the three varieties on the yield of three-year-old samples (P>0.05) , but the yields of four-year-old and five-year-old Dahuaye and Wuguangye samples were significantly larger than that of Xiaohuaye sample(P<0.05).UV and HPLC were used to determine the contents of total alkaloids and berberine, The result indicated that there were no significant differences among the three varieties on the contents of total alkaloids and berberine (P>0.05) .Furthermore, we also studied the HPLC fingerprint of the three varieties to roundly compare the quality of the three varieties. The result showed that the fingerprints of the three varieties had good similarities.In conclusion, we can get that the varieties of Dahuaye and Wuguangye are excellent with yield and quality, and both can be used as origin seeds in the GAP plantation of Coptis chinensis.
