As its many spin excellences, more and more people are interested in ramie fabric. With the improvement of request coming from the international market, the chiefly assignment of improvement in ramie focused on the fiber quality. 50 ramie varieties collected from Ramie Germplasm Resources Garden located at Huazhong Agricultural University were studied. Through the analysis of correlation among chemical components, agronomic characters and quality characters, the results showed the real relationship of each character targets, which would provide the theoretical supports for the selection of eminent varieties.1. Analysis of the main characters of ramieThe ramie fiber characters were different because of the different environment and genotypes. The results showed significant differences in ramie quality characters except crystallinity degree, and chemical matter contents except wax-lipid and lignin, and agronomic characters; significant differences were also existed in different seasons. The content of cellulose kept at the highest level in the fist season and lowest level in the second season; the content of lignin and water-dissolvable matter kept at the highest level in the fist season and lowest level in the third season; the content of pectin and wax-lipid kept at the highest level in the third season followed by the fist and second seasons; the content of hemicellulose kept at highest level in the second season followed by the fist and the third seasons. The main quality characters including breaking strength, breaking elongation ratio, fineness and fineness uniformity showed significant differences among three seasons. Breaking strength and crystallinity degree kept at highest level in the second season followed by the third and the fist seasons; fibre fineness kept at the thinnest in the fist season followed by the second and the third seasons; breaking elongation ratio kept at highest level in the third season followed the second and the top seasons. The agronomic characters also showed significant differences among different seasons, plant height kept at highest level in the fist season followed by the second and first season; the content of whole non-cellulose matter and fiber production ratio kept at highest level in the second season followed by the third and the fist seasons; stem diameter kept at the highest level in the top season followed by the second and the third seasons; available plants kept at highest level in the third season, which was on the contrary with stem diameter.2.
