Research was done on agronomic, physiological, technical properties and quality deterioration of six new sugarcane varieties : G16, G17, YT93/159, T22, T25 and Taiyou. T16 was taken as the control variety. The results were as followed. In agronomic characters: G16, YT93/159, T16 and T25 were more uniform in germination. T22 had the highest budding rate. G16 had the lowest budding rate but the highest tillering rate. T22 had the lowest tillering rate. During the whole growth time, T22 and T25 grew faster and YT93/159 was the slowest. T25 and Taiyou had high ratio of stems, yet G17 had the lowest. T25, T22 and Taiyou were high resistant to lodging. G16 was the lowest. The arrangement of cane yield was as followed :Taiyou>T25>T22>T16>YT93/159>G17>G16.In physiological characters: the indexes of chiorophyll content, NRA activity and acid invertase activity and so on certified that T22 was the best and YT93/159 was the worst. The indexes of proline content and peroxidase activity and so on indicated that T22 and T25 were high resistant, yet G17 and YT93/159 were low. G16 and G17 were highresistant to top-rot but were susceptive to cotton aphid. T25 and Taiyou were susceptive to top-rot. T22 was susceptive to smut. G17and YT93/159 were destroyed seriously by mice.In technical properties: the quality analysis showed YT93/159 was of extra high sucrose-content, other varieties content of sucrose were more than 15.00%. All tested varieties had high purity of cane juice. YT93/159, G16 and T16 had low content of glucose. In variations of quality: during storage period, the sucrose content of Taiyou increased faster, the cane juice purity of T16 and T22 decreased faster. The degree of quality deterioration of G17 and T25 were the lowest, but T16, T22 and Taiyou were the fastest.Of all tested varieties, Taiyou and T25 were the best. T22, T16 and YT93/159 were medium. G16 and G17 were the worst. Except G16 and G17, the sucrose yield of all tested varieties had amounted to 15.00t/ha.
