Chondrilla L. plant which are perennial herbage plant of the composite chicory family, there are about 25 kinds of Chondrilla L. plant and distribute mostly in Central Asia, Northern Asia and Europe. There are 10 kinds of Chondrilla L plant in our Country and distribute only in Xinjiang. The plant are wild flowers that can be exploitured effectively in garden with the strong vitality, high ornamental value and good community effect. However, currently, the biological characteristics, introduction and domestication, garden development of the Chondrilla L. plant are not researched deeply by someone. From east to west along the Zhunger basin, TaCheng basin and Altai Mountain, choicing two varieties near Urumqi—the Ch. ornate and the Ch. ambigua, as researching object based on investigating to the resource distribution and habitat for Chondrilla L.. After studying on the Chondrilla L. comprehensively from phenology, introducing, biological characteristics, garden evaluation and soon, we can get as follows conclusion:1. Chondrilla L. which grow mainly in the gravel land and sand land distribute extensively in Xinjiang. They also can be found in dried-up river bed and both sides of the highway and railroad.2. Chondrilla L. have bright-coloured flower, beautiful canopy, long flowering time, with a higher ornament value.3. After seed germination experiment, we can found that the seed germinating rate of the first blossom of Ch. ornate is higher than the second blossom, and the seed life span reduce quickly during preservation period. Ch. ambigua can't bear fruit after second blossom, but the seed from the first blossom more heavy than the second blossom. After periodical germination experiment, we can found that the seed germinating rate only have little change. The cutting experiment indicate that the survival rate of wood cutting is 0, but the survival rate of fleshy root cutting can reach to 67%.4. Introducing the Ch. ornate and the Ch. ambigua to campus's experiment ground and plant respectively in the three different habitat environment—the clay ground, the loamy soil under tree, the gravel land, and manage carefully. As a result, the Chondrilla L. plant that be introduced in the gravel land have high survival rate and good growth vigor. The introducing...
