Breeding And Releasing Of New Autumn-Eggplant F1 Hybrid 'Ziqiu'

Solanum melongena L. belonging to solanaceae, is an economically important vegetable of the world and widely cultivated in China. Eggplant is one of the seven most important export crops of China. It is a good source of carbohydrate, protein, fattiness, alkaloid, vitamin and mineral. It has been used for treatment the disease of inflammation, hypersusceptibility, cancer and arteriosclerosis.As the improvement of people's life level and the change of consumption market, the demand of eggplant in the inverse season is increasing quickly. The planting area of Zhejiang province in autumn have occupied 20% to 30% in the total cultivated area. Because of the lag of research level, the right autumn variety is absence. Now, the distribution and puff strategy of seed industry and the technology of popularizing new vegetable varieties are behindhand compared with overseas mature system.In our study, we selected a new autumn variety which had high quality, yield, resistance to disease and pest to solve the problem. The main results are as follows.(1) Based on the 300 materials introduced into from the domestic and oversea, we investigated the biology characters in the field, identified the disease resistance and quality, purified the inbred lines, selected directionally, did growth experiment, and then screened out a lot of inbred lines with excellent characters.(2) Cross-group were arranged in pairs, the heat and disease resistant character and quality of the seedlings was identified, the commercial standard of the fruits was analysed, different varieties were compared and planted for several years in several place. "Ziqiu" was screened out. It is an autumn variety with high resistance, good yield and excellent quality. It has been identified by the experts of Zhejiang science and technology department of Zhejian province in 2005. (3) The show and demonstration of the new variety is the basal of new variety release, at the same time, it is the bridge that links breeding and popularizing; High quality seeds and the research of new varieties cultural technology are important procedures of popularizing new varieties. Then, the people can profit from using new varieties and cultural technology.(4) Excellent dealer and rational assigned profit are the key of establishing good sale network system; Launching advertising will facilitates the release of new varieties; For the long-time profit, we must set up good after service market system.
