| Ground-cover chrysanthemum not only has a higher ornamental value, some cultivars are of certain medicinal value. Some Ground-cover Chrysanthemum cultivars have been used as "Chrysanthemum Tea" from ancient years. However, the blooming-season of Chrysanthemum Tea is usually a little too late and vulnerable to early frost in the north. Early blooming-seasoned Ground-cover chrysanthemum cultivars for drinking were bred and selected by means of hybridization and seedling selection, and their medicinal value were analyzed through comparison of chemical composition.10 eminent individuals and 2 new proto-cultivars had been selected in the past three years. Blooming-season of Chrysanthemum Tea had been advanced to certain degrees, achieving the expected goals. The selected plants had been evaluated in terms of explicit quality through grading. The analysis of portion inheritance pattern of Ground-cover chrysanthemum for drinking provided the main basis for selection.Total flavone of eminent individuals and new proto-cultivars in this study were analyzed by UV spectrophotometer and chlorogenic acid by HPLC, with contrast to the traditional Chrysanthemum Tea. The results showed: 8 of selected Ground-cover chrysanthemum are superior in two chemical components which prove the market competitiveness of Chrysanthemum Tea from inherent quality. However, this three-year study is only preliminary result, and new cultivars of early eminent Ground-cover chrysanthemum for drinking will be confirmed and sed after specific and regular comparison in the near future.
