Seabuckthorn. is a type of shrub in acid thorn generic in Elaeagnaceae.In China,it distributesmainly on the areas of northeast,north,northwest, Sichuan,Tibet and Yunnan,its area canapproximately be 6.7×10~9m~2, so Chnese is the most copoious resources of seabuckthorn country inthe world.The main component of seabuckthorn is flavonoids or boiflavonoids which containαorβPhenyl-pyrones. Flavonoids is a superordinary type of active mundificant and lipidantioxidant.It was identificated that blood fat could be adjusted and body weight.could becontrolled by seabuckthorn extract.It can be used for preventing and healing hyperlipoidemia. Theexperiment was conducted to study the effects of the different concentration of seabuckthornextract on performance, availability of nutrition, antioxidant and fat metabolism by feeding trial,metabolic trial and slaughter trial.In this experiment, total 120 1-day-old health male Arbor Acre (AA) broilers were randomlyassigned to three groups with four replicates of ten broilers each replicates. The period of theexperiment was 56 days. The control group was fed basal diet (not adding any medication), the testgroups (Ⅰ,Ⅱ) were added to the basal diet with 0.1%,0.2% seabuckthorn extract. Weights and feedintakes of every replication were weight on every weekend, and average daily gains, feed intakesand feed efficiency were calculated. The result showed that comparing to control,the growthperformance of broilerwere not significantly effected by seabuckthorn extract (P>0.05). In the trialperiod, from 17 days, a metabolism trial.lasted 3days was carried out. Test results showed thatcomparing to control,protein, fat,calcium and phosphorus were not affected by seabuckthornextract (P>0.05). When 3,5,8 weeksold, 2 chicken were taken out from each replicate andsuperoxide dismutase (SOD), malondialdehyde(MDA), glutathione peroxidase (GSH-px), totalantioxidant capacity (T-AOC),serum total cholesterol (CHOL), low-density lipoprotein(LDL),high-density lipoprotein (HDL). triglyceride (TG), serum free fatty acid (NEFA) levels in serumand tissue were determined.The results showed, comparing to control, liver SOD of 3 weeks oldbroilers was significantly increased by seabuckthom extract (P<0.05), liver SOD of 5 and 8 weeksold broilers was very significantly increased (P<0.01);comparing to control, liver T-AOC of 8weeks old broilers was significantly increased and the content of MDA in liver and kidney was verysignificantly decreased.by seabuckthorn extract (P<0.01).It indicated that seabuckthorn extractcould increase the anti-oxidate ability of broilers. Comparing to control, the content of NEFA inserum of 3 weeks old broilers was not significantly increased (P>0.05),but the content of NEFA inserum of 5 and 8 weeks old broilers was very significantly increased by seabuckthorn extract...
