The change of physiology and biochemistry during seed development of Onobrychis viciaefolia Scop. cv. Mengnong which grow two or three years were studied in Wulate anterior banner of Bayannur city ,Inner Mongolia. In this paper, seed yield components, potential seed yield and harvested seed yield were also analysised. The better method of economic utilization for Onobrychis viciaefolia Scop. cv. Mengnong was found by the studies of seed fields in different utilization method. Theory basis were given to physiology study of seed development, production and utilization of sainfoin.The change of seed moisture content is from high to low during the seed development. Seed physiological maturity was achieved 30 days after peak anthesis with seed moisture content reduced to about 20.69%. The complete ripeness stage were come 27 days after peak anthesis with the transformation and accumulation of nutrition substance by the change of the soluble sugar , crude protein ,fat, ash , calcium, phosphorus and other storage materials of seed.The seed quality and yield of Onobrychis viciaefolia Scop. cv. Mengnong gradually improve by increase in seed maturity degree. Some indices can reflect the change of seed vigor such as seed germination index,vigor index,electrical conductivity and sugar content from leachate and so on .It can obtain high yield and good quality seeds cutting when 30 days after peak anthesis. The germination ratio,germination index and vigor index of seed in different storage years gradually decreased .It shows the seed of Onobrychis viciaefolia Scop. cv. Mengnong has not the post-maturation phenomenon. The seed quality shows decrease of different level with the increase of storage time.The potential seed yield, presentation seed yield and harvested seed yield were calculated by mensurating the seed yield component . The key factor that affect seed yield components of sainfoin were found by Correiation Analysis, Partial Correlation Analysis , Path Analysis and Regression Analysis. The average value of thousand grain weight is the key decision variable. Flore number per inflorescence is the main restrictive variable. The model for the prediction of seed yield of sainfoin is Y=-112.8194+0.0128X1+0.2675X3+0.5736X4+5.6408X5. Fore-rotating and the second rotation are reasonable grass cutting and seed harvesting period respectively through the quality analysis and economic benefit study of seed fields in different utilization method in Bayannur.
