Studies On The Application State Of Indoor Foliage Plants In Yangtse River Delta Area

Given China's increasing economic growth,the requirements on work and living environment become more and more important.The indoor foliage plants were accepted by more and more people and applied on all kinds of public places and indoor environments especially in Yangtse River Delta area.It has become necessary to decorate some fresh and natural indoor foliage plants in new and top grade places such as saloon,hall,guesthouse,dwelling place,teahouse,pub,bank,commercial mansion and so on.The author investigated the application state of indoor foliage plants for many years in Yangtse River Delta area.Combined with practice,the application state of indoor foliage plants was introduced in detail.The following opinions were obtained:1.There were totally 110 species of indoor foliage plants which were introduced and applied in Yangtse River Delta area.These plants were mainly pertained to Araceae,Agavaceae,Liliaceae,Palmaceae,Cactaceae etc..The foliage plants accounted for 70.1 percent of the popular indoor plants,the foliage plants together with flower,fruit,stem and other ornamentals accounted for 27.3 percent,and the flower ornamentals accounted for only 2.6 percent.2.The first 20 species of indoor foliage plants that were applied widely are as follows:Dracaena fragrabs,Pachira aquatica,Chrysalidocarpus lutes-cens, Scindapsus aurens,Cycas revolute,Rhapis excelsa,Yucca elephantipes,Dracaeba sanderiana,Schefflera octophylla,Ficus microcarps,Codiaeum variegatum var. pictum,Livistona chinensis,Pinus parviflora,Spathiphyllum kochii "Green Giant", Caladium hortulanum,Philodendron selloum,Aspidistra elatior,Alocasia macrorrhza,Hedera helix and Echinocactus gruson.3.After practicing and concluding for many years,the application principles of the indoor foliage plants were given just as follows:choose the proper varieties, coordinate the color,fix on the right position and apply fewer but better.The ornamental methods of these plants applied on the residential space,office space and store space were also suggested.4.Based on the experiments,it can be concluded that the plants such as Aspidistra elatior,Rhapis excelsa,Chamaedorea elegans and Cycas revolute have the longest ornamental period in the locality.5.The present problems were concluded and the corresponding strategies,as well as the application prospects were put forward in this article.
