Study On The Landscape Application Of Foliage Plant

With the gradual deepening of our country’s urbanization, people are paying more and moreattention to urban landscaping levels. As an important material of urban garden greening, foliageplants can not only create different landscapes through the rich changes of plant leaves’ shapes andcolors, but also absorb the harmful gas, reduce environmental pollution and so on. So they arewidely used in urban landscaping.Combining with the domestic and foreign researches of foliage plants，this paper presents sixtheories which are related to foliage plants in landscape application：the landscape ecology theory,the garden aesthetics theory, the plant landscape theory, the human engineering theory, theenvironmental psychology theory and the applied chromatology theory. These theories provide atheoretical support and establish a theoretical foundation for the further research of foliage plants’landscape application.Based on the research of foliage plants’ definition, characteristics and classification，theresearch objects of this paper is determined and the landscape application advantages of foliageplants and the standard for classification survey on foliage plants is clearly identified. And basedon the further research of foliage plants’ advantages in urban gardening application, the fiveprinciples of applying foliage plants including the adaptive principle, the ecological principle, thefunctional principle, the artistic principle and the economic principle, respectively, are put forwardand Basic framework of the foliage plants in urban gardening application is identified.In this paper，with the principle of points and planes、fan out from point to area，we make adetailed inquiry about foliage plants on the main road、park green lands、residential green landsand enterprises’ green lands.From the foliage plant species、garden application methods, andfoliage planting with other elements,we elaborate the present situation of Fuzhou foliage plants.Onthe basis of the present situation,we summarize the problem of foliage plants’ application inFuzhou,and put forward specific solutions.the problems existing in the application and thecorresponding solutions have been summarized as following:（1）Species of foliage plants in Fuzhou: after implementing the investigation in the field,the number of foliage plants’ species applied in Fuzhou’s urban green lands has been calculatedwith a total of61families,109genera and150species. The proportion among woody foliageplants, herbaceous foliage plants and liane foliage plants is1(121):0.18(22):0.06(7). The tree foliage plants are93species, shrub foliage plants are29species.And there are119species ofevergreen foliage plants, containing79.33%of the total. The rest21（30.67%） species aredeciduous foliage plants. Among the total above，there are94species of evergreen woody foliageplants，21species of evergreen herbaceous foliage plants，4species of evergreen vine foliageplants,28species of deciduous woody foliage plants and3species of deciduous vine foliageplants.And the foliage plants were classified and analyzed, then raise the question of foliage plantspecies used in Fuzhou city.（2）The applications of Foliage plants in Fuzhou: The applications of foliage plants inFuzhou’s urban green lands are quite rich, which include solitary planting, double planting, linearplanting, clump planting, mass planting, forest planting and other applications. To create beautifullandscapes, foliage plants and other garden elements such as other kinds of ornamental plants,roads, landscape architecture opuscules, stones and water should match each other.Based on theconcept of application status of Foliage plants, we put forward the problem of foliage plantsapplication, and planting with other garden factors.（3）The problems existing in the landscape applications of foliage plants in Fuzhou: similaror repeating use of main foliage plants in urban garden green lands causes that the foliage plants’landscape are too drab and the changes are not rich enough, even low scenery taste is led to; somecertain species of green land foliage plants are not abundant enough; the number of local foliageplants species is too small; blindly bringing foreign foliage plants in leads that part of plants can’tadapt to Fuzhou’s climate, which influences landscape performance badly; unreasonable foliageplants configuration leads to the damage of the landscape; the landscape construction is paid toomuch attention to, while the conservation and management of foliage plants are ignored. Solutions:strengthening the promotion of local wild foliage plants’ application, richening species of foliageplants; establishing and perfecting laws and regulations about green space landscape andstrengthening human’s awareness of landscape construction; continuously enhancing thelandscape designers’ professional knowledge and reducing unreasonable plant configuration；strengthening the conservation and management of plant landscape and regularly inspecting at thesame time.
