The Research On Indices Of Forest Resource Distribution

Forest distribution situation has a great influence on maintaining the ecological environment of a country or a district. In order to describe the distribution of forests in a quantification way, the author utilizes some different indices in statistics such as: range, mean difference, standard deviation, distinction degree, coefficient of variation and so forth, and a newly-established index, which is named Forest Distribution Index by the author. This index is built based on the principle and counting method of Gini Coefficient and it was calculated by dividing the related data into five groups. Then the author defines the land area accumulation as the horizontial variables and the forest area accumulation as the vertical variables. At last, by doing some careful analysis and calculating, the author gave out the results.Then, by analyzing the calculating process, the results of those indices and how much these indices match the index choosing principles, this paper compares and points out the advantages and disadvantages of each index. Also, the author indicates we should choose the forest coefficient of standard deviation index as the best index which can describe the distribution situation of our forests. Meantime this paper points out the situation of our forest distribution is changing undulate by analyzing the six forest surveys'results. Furthermore, the author gives out some reasons on why this changing trend happened.Also, this paper analyses and compares forest distribution of some other countries or districts by using forest distribution standard deviation index. Then, points out that the forest distribution situation of our country is quite unequal by comparing the calculating results of many other countries or districts.At last, on one side, the author discusses why the forest distribution of our country is so unequal and puts forwards some suggestions on how to solve it in the largest degree, on the other side, prospects the further possible researches on the forest distribution.
