The cashmeres grow out from the secondary hair follicles of Cashmere goat. It is very important to understand that the mechanism of molecular regulation about hair follicle development and it has a close relationship with the quantity and quality of cashmere. The Hoxd9 gene of Cashmere goat and sheep was amplified by PCR and their nucleotide and amino acid sequence were analyzed by bioinformatics. Finally we investigated the expression of Hoxd9 mRNA between skin of 70d fetal and two weeks lamb by real-time PCR. The results suggested as following:The Hoxd9 gene of cashmere goat and sheep was cloned. Their length of DNA was 1211bp and 1202bp respectively, which encoded 286 and 283 amio acid respectively. Furthermore, the nucleotide and amino acid sequence of Hoxd9 kept high homology in mammalian. In real-time PCR study showed that mRNA of Hoxd9 gene was expressed skin of 70 d fetal and two weeks. Result showed that Hoxd9 gene might play a role for regulating hair follicle development and grwoth.
