At present, the substrate of greenhouse crops culturing without soil are mainly perlite, vermiculite, mineral wool, turfs in the nature and the coconut fiber, sawdust and mushroom residues ,which are the gardening culturing substrate developed from the organic waste of the agriculture and industrial production. These substrates either have no good quality of decomposability to influence the growth of the crops, or the cost is too high to influence the economic benefits. So there is need to develop a new culturing substrate which could not only accelerate the growth of the crops, but also curtail the production cost. The characteristic industryin Zhenjiang--the vinegar industry brings Zhenjing great economic benefits and also produceslots of industrial waste--vinegar residue at the same time. The vinegar residue is disposed asgarbage for a long time, which is not only a waste of resources, but also causes environment pollution. The vinegar residue is full of nutrition and has a good quality of decomposability, so it could be used as a substrate of the vegetable cultivation and could supply the nutrition of crop growth. So the proper recycle of the vinegar residue could not only solve those two problems, but also could make better economic benefits. But the higher acid attribute of the vinegar residue could suppress the growth of most vegetables. So the vinegar residue must accept a disposal of reducing its acid attribute and then could be used as a main component of the cultivation substrate. This article is divided into two parts to discuss the feasibility and validity of the general use of the vinegar residue as the cultivation substrate of the green cucumber. And the details are: Under a certain condition of water fertilizer, compose the vinegar, mushroom residues and neutral vermiculite by the different volume proportion and study the influence on the growth of greenhouse cucumber by the comparison with the usual cultivation substrate perlite. The guidelines are stem length, leaf age, area of leaf, content of chlorophyll, production and content of leaf nutrition elements. So we could determine the more reasonable component proportion of the greenhouse cucumber substrate. And the result shows that under the condition of the irrigation of 50% nutrition water compose by vinegar residue and 60% Vermiculite, it could get a higher production of cucumber and could bring its time of coming to the market ahead to some extent and get a higher economic income in comparison with the disposal by using the perlite as substrate. Under the condition of different water fertilizer, we discuss the influence on the growth of greenhouse cucumber of every treatment by using the only vinegar residue without any other substrate as the cultivation of cucumber substrate. So we could determine the best irrigation quantity. The result shows that the guidelines of the cucumber have no obvious difference with the irrigation of the only vinegar residue added with 50% nutrition water in comparison with the irrigation of 100% nutrition water with perlite substrate. But we could gain a better economic benefit for saving about a half of water fertilizer irrigation quantity and the very low cost of the vinegar residue compared to the perlite. This article studied the feasibility and operation methods of the vinegar residue used as the cultivation substrate of the greenhouse cucumber from the microcosmic. It has certain directing meaning for the producing progress of agriculture and provides the theory direction and technology gist.
