Gastrodia elata B1. is a kind of traditional and famous Chinese medicinal material in our country. Among the domestic gastrodias,Gastrodia elata B1.f.glauca S.Chow is known as the masterwork for its high refractive index, excellent commodity character and fine quality.The tubers are used as medicines and the effective components are gastrodin and polysaccharide and so on. It can be used for the treatment of headache and vertigo, limb numbness and epilepsy convulsion. In order to evaluate the quality characteristics and draw up the draft of quality standard of Gastrodia elata B1.f.glauca S.Chow, Gastrodia elata B1.f.glauca S.Chow produced in JinKouhe of SiChuan province were used as the research materials and the domestic gastrodia as the control study. The extracts of gastrodia, ash, polysaccharide and gastrodin were the research index according to the methods of Chinese Pharmacopoeia and the references in the present study.1.Study on the processing methods of Gastrodia elata B1.f.glauca S.Chow: Methods of microwave drying, brasising of water insulation, water boiling and infrared drying were designed. The study shows that the optimum method of processing is brasising of water insulation till to penetrate the heart.2.Studies on the qualties of gstrodias from different producing areas and different varieties: Samples were collected from Shanxi, GuiZhou, YunNan, Tibet and SiChuan and so on. A comparative study on the quality characteristics between Gastrodia elata B1.f.glauca S.Chow and red gastrodia was included in the experiment. The study shows that the quality of Gastrodia elata B1.f.glauca S.Chow produced in JinKouhe of SiChuan province is better than that produced in other areas.3.Effects of the ecological environment and the size of tubers on the quality of Gastrodia elata B1.f.glauca S.Chow: Samples were collected from different altitudes and different kinds of tubers. The study shows that it is beneficial to the accumulation of nutrient of high altitude and the quality differences of different development patterns are obvious. The classification of traditional gastrodia should be optimized and improved according to the qualities.4. Studies on the qualtiy characteristics in different parts of Gastrodia elata B1.f.glauca S.Chow: The materials were classfied according to different organization structures as epidermis, cortex and stele and different parts as spore, upper segment, middle segement, lower segment, umbilical point and so on. The study shows that the quality evaluation of the upper segment in the tubers and the stele of cortex are better than that of other parts.5.Studies on the quality characteristics of different development stages: Mother gastrodia, sword gastrodia, white gastrodia and rice gastrodia of different development stages were collected as the materials. The study shows that the quality of sword gastrodia is better than other gastrodias of different development stages.6.A premliminary quality standard and pollution-free production technique regulation of Gastrodia elata B1.f.glauca S.Chow has been drawn up.A premliminary evaluation and systematic study of the resources of Gastrodia elata B1.f.glauca S.Chow were reported for the first time in domestic. Scientific basis will be provided for the rational utilization and development and normalized production of GAP. It has important theoretical meaning and practical application values.
