This study uses the Hamamelidae garden in Zhejiang Forestry University as the testing ground to establish an ecological garden by imitating the structure of natural secondary plant community. The thesis is divided into four parts as follows:In the first part, it describes the concept and connotation of ecological garden, the research development of its plant community construction at home and abroad and some theories for reference. In the second part, method of this study is introduced. First, investigate the vegetation of the testing ground; register its weather, soil condition and human interfering history. Then use sample plot method to investigate natural secondary plant communities; get the important value, the niche breadth value and the niche overlaps. Then measure the photosynthesis physiological index of four dominant arbor species by Li-6400 portable photosynthesis system, and then compare their photosynthetic capacity, desiccation tolerance and sunlight adaptability. In the third part, the result is analyzed. There are 70 species of first planted trees in testing ground. By analyzing the important value, the niche breadth value and niche overlaps, the dominant arbor species and dominant shrub species are determined; the community is at the later metaphase succession phase. The photosynthetic capacity of the four dominant arbor species is arrayed as follows: Castanea sclerophylla> Lithocarpus glaber> Cyclobalanopsis glauca > Schima superba, the sunlight adaptability is arrayed as follows: Schima superba > Lithocarpus glaber > Castanea sclerophylla > Cyclobalanopsis glauca, the desiccation tolerance is arrayed as follows: Schima superba > Castanea sclerophylla > Cyclobalanopsis glauca > Lithocarpus glaber. Among them, Schima superba has the highest WUE, the other three's WUEs are close. In the fourth part, the plan for establishing ecological garden plant community is layed out. First, protect the well-growing first planted trees. Second, choose Castanea sclerophylla, Lithocarpus glaber, Cyclobalanopsis glauca and Schima superba as dominant arbor species and Camellia fraterna, Cleyera japonica, Eurya hebeclado and Loropetalum chinensisas as the dominant shrub trees, and then choose their associated tree species. Choose herbs that can prevent soil erotion and plants with high ornamental value. abor tree will be planted with a desity of about 1m×1m; shrub trees with about 0.5m×0.5m; and herbs with about 0.1m×0.1m. According to landscape ecology principles, the amout of dominate species and associate species should be planted at the ratio of 2:1. Third, arrange plant sites for all plants: Schima superba community to be planted on the south-east slope, Lithocarpus glaber-Schima superba community on the south-west slope, Cyclobalanopsis glauca-Castanopsis schlasophylla community on the northern slope, Liaquidambar formosana- Prunus persica ornamental community, Maackia hupehensis ornamental community, Koelreuteria bipinnata var. integrifoliola - Prunus mume ornamental community and Sapindus mukorossi- Robinia hispida ornamental community on the ridge and forest edge. Plot the plan onto the paper. Finally, oberve the post-established plant community and give some suggestions.
