Mining plays an importment role in increasing local economy and people's living level; however it also brought severely environmental problems, such as soil erosion, environment pollution, landscape degradation etc, which affected people's life quality and investment environment, together with increasing the difficulty of the vegetation restoration. In this paper, we take Sibao Mountain in Zibo City as study area. Based on field survey and historical records of the mountain, the leading factors of site condition were determined by the method of Principal Component Analysis, the site type partitioning system were built up, then the site qualities of the local sites were evaluated. The aim is to provide with theoretical and practical basis and guidance for the vegetation restoration in damaged mountain. The research results are as follows:1.The dominant factors of site classificationThe correspondence among quantitative factors and vegetation biomass were analyzed. The results show that there are close relationships among vegetation biomass and soil thickness and moisture, their coefficients are 0.8330,0.9443 respectively. Then the step by step regression equation was got, i.e.: Y=44.207+1.159X3+1.482X4, whose square coefficient is 0.9023.For the sites of non-quantitative factors, such as gradient, slope position and the proportion of soil to stone. The correspondence analyzing shows that there are no significant relationships between vegetation biomass and gradients, while that of the slope position and proportion of soil to stone are significant. In a word, the leading factors which contribute to site conditions are soil thickness, water carrying capacity and vegetation biomass, whose contributing variance ratios are 54.42%,16.57%,11.94 %, and their accumulative contributing variance ratio takes up to 82.93%.2. Site classification system of Mount SibaoAccording to site classification system of China's forest, higher site classified unit of Mount Sibao in Zibo City belongs to Site sub-region in the north of Mount Lu and Mount Tai, Low mount and hilly site region in the middle-south of Shandong province, Site zong in warm climate regions of North China. According to cluster analysis and principal component analysis, and comprehensive quantitative factors and non-quantitative site factors analysis, the lower site classified unit is determined, i.e. there are 1 small site type area, 4 site type groups and 7 site types. Of which, four site type groups are low and positive site type group, low and negative site type group, low mountains with bare rock site type group, low mountains with slope of gully bottom site type group. Seven site types are low mountains with quarrying operations area in positive site type, low mountains with rubble in negative site type, low mountains with bare rock in the peak site type, low mountains with heap emission in positive site type, low mountains with mud heap in positive site type, low mountains with waste land in negative site type, low mountains with road slope in the bottom of gully site type. Furthermore, the characteristics of site type were established which will be beneficial to those local restoration practices.3,Site quality is evaluated.Based on the actual characteristics of the damaged mountain, the site quality evaluation system was set up by the Analytic Hierarchy Process method and Delphi method, The results shows that excellent, good, moderate, poor, extremely poor, and the corresponding scores are >9,9~7,7~5,5~2,<2. Among the sites, the superior ones, the good ones and the moderate ones each make up 14.3%, of the total sites; while the poor ones and extreme poor site are consist of 57.1%.Most of the other site conditions can't reached the restoration of vegetation required site conditions' require, can not carry out vegetation directly on the restoration of vegetation, human need to improve site conditions. Based on these, suggests on the way to recommendation of vegetation restoration of destructive mountain are provided.
