In this study, a novel environmentally friendly cotton seed coating agent was made with the natural polymeric amylose as the main raw material. Compared to toxic conventional cotton seed coating agents, the toxicity and cost of the novel environmentally friendly cotton seed coating agent were decreased while the yield of cotton was improved. It has characteristics of lower prices, better quality and environmentally friendship. Through the germination tests in the lab, the seed security examination was made on seed coating agent, the optimal proportion of seed coating agent to seeds and the optimal basis formula were determined. The desirable thickness of soil on the coated seeds was examined. After the basis formula of seed coating agent was compounded with micro-fertilizer, the new formulas were used for the field experiment to study the effect of environmentally friendly seed coating agents on germination rate, seed vigor, growth and development and yield of cotton. Meanwhile, the mechanisms of the increasing yield and anti-fungicide were analyzed and discussed generally in this study. The results of the study were as follows:1. Through the laboratory test, the desirable ratio of natural polymeric amylose to amino acid in the ingredients of film was determined for 50 : 0.5 and the desirable components and dosage for the macroelements were determined for nitrogenous fertilizer : phosphatic fertilizer : potash Fertilizer = 10.0 : 7.5 : 7.5.2. The mensuration of the quality indexes such as: performance of shaping into film, viscidity, time for shaping into film, acceptability of seed coating, immobility of seed coating were made. The results showed that the quality indexes of the environmentally friendly cotton seed coating agent were in conformity with the industry standard of the pesticide of our country.3. The germination tests in the lab detected that the environmentally friendly seed coating agent was safe and effective to cotton seeds, the basis formula EFC4 of environmentally friendly seed coating agents and the optimal proportion 1:50 of seed coating agent to seed were determined.4. The desirable thickness of soil on the cotton seeds treated with seed coating agents was appropriate to 10mm. Wing roots would be grown if the thickness of soil was too thin; otherwise, if the thickness of soil was too thick, there would be crooked seedlings, and the survival rate of seedlings was low.5. The basis formula of environmentally friendly seed coating agents was compounded with micro-fertilizer, the effect of micro-fertilizer on the germination of cotton seeds was determined by examining germination energy and germination rate. Micro-fertilizer added to seed coating agents not only has no negative effect on the germination of cotton seeds, but it also can improve the germination energy and germination rate of seed and promote the growth and development of seedlings. The desirable components and dosage for the micro-fertilizer in the environmentally friendly seed coating agents were determined for boric fertilizer: molybdate fertilizer: zinc fertilizer = 0.7: 0.2: 1.2.6. The effect of environmentally friendly seed coating agents on the growth and development of cotton was determined in the field test. The rate of emergence and root vigor were improved, the fresh weight of seedling and the length of root were increased, and the yield of cotton was increased. The fresh weight of single seedling was improved 9.3% as compared to CK and 6.3% to the conventional seed coating agent Celest; the length of root was 117.4% to CK and 113.4% to Celest; the yield of cotton was increased up to 16.8% to CK and 9.5% to Celest.7. The cost performance of environmentally friendly cotton seed coating agent was determined after the analysis of economic benefit. The cost of environmentally friendly cotton seed coating agent was reduced 30% as compared to conventional seed coating agents. Germination energy, germination rate, seed vigor, fresh weight of cotton seedling, length of root and yield of cotton all increased obviously. It has an obvious advantage in cost performance.
