Studies On Status Quo And Countermeasures Of Sweet And Sticky Corn Variety Management In Zhejiang Province

The fresh-eating corn industry is a new developing industry in China over the past decade.With the rise of consumption level and the diversification of diet structure,the market of it is very favorable.Meanwhile,the development of fresh-eating corn plays an important role in adjusting crop structure and increasing the income of farmers.The sweet corn and sticky corn are main species of the fresh-eating corn in China. In this paper,the status of two types' breeding and industrial development in Zhejiang Province was analyzed with a brief summary about their origin and distribution and the analysis of the status at home and abroad;the variety characteristic of two types and the consistency and authenticity of species in Zhejiang Province were studied in detail;regional tests about two types were evaluated,with new countermeasures brought forward.The main results are:In Zhejiang Province,the sweet corn and sticky corn production develop rapidly. The major manifestations are:â‘ The proportion of planting area is increasing markedly.In 2008,the area of two types has amounted to 50.7 thousand hm~2 increasing by 7 times than in 1999 and the proportion of it accounting for the province's total maize areas has risen from 14.1 percent in 1999 to 54.3 percent in 2008.â‘¡The amount of two types' varieties applied in production became more and more,which increased from 9 in 1999 to 57 in 2008.â‘¢The main variety is prominent.The main cultivars of sweet corns accounted for 58.9%of the total area, including four cultivars Chaotian 3,Chaotian 2018,Zhefengtian 2 and Huazhen.The main cultivars of sticky corn accounted for 67.5%of the total area,including five cultivars Suyunuo 1,Suyunuo 2,Kenuo 98-6,Zhefengnuo2 and Meiyu 8.In order to enhance two types' production,it is necessary to solve some problems such as lack of the fine quality variety,improving cultivation techniques,the low level of industrialization,the small scale of processing enterprises,meliorating post-harvest storage technologies and so on.The breeding of sweet corn and sticky corn in Zhejiang Province has been promoted obviously.It shows as follows:â‘ The new variety continues to emerge. The tested varieties totaled 54 in Zhejiang Province,which is composed of 23 sweet corns and 31 sticky corns.â‘¡Types of the variety are abundant and resources of the variety are wide.â‘¢The quality has been noticeably improved,the production is steadily going up,and the relationship between the fine quality and high yield are primary coordinated.The consistency and authenticity of species are good.In the variety management of the sweet corn and glutinous corn,the cultivar test turns more and more standardized,the evaluation system of quality is continuously improved,the error of regional tests decreases and the test quality is enhanced year by year.However,there are many miscellaneous testing varieties and the evaluation system needs to be further improved.As a result,following countermeasures which are testing variety should be more strictly selected to ensure the quality of testing varieties,the test network construction must be further improved,the evaluation system of varieties should be made better to advance the cultivar registration scientificity were put forward in this paper.
