| Chongming Island is located in Yangtze River Estuary. In this area, the PH value of irrigation water and soil is higher, Fresh Corn was planted in small area, and mainly be waxy corn. There was not the experience of planting sweet corn on large scale. Thus, we take the methods of variety selecting, early planting, seedling cultivating, transplanting, covering and other practice to get suitable varieties and planting pattern. After the integration of different agricultural practices of sweet corn in growing season, we obtained the data and cultivation techniques for sweet corn in Chongming Island.(1) By choosing "Huazhen" and other four sweet corn varieties as materials, we investigated the growth features and the production qualities of sweet corns on Chongming Island. Ten introduced sweet corns raised in spring here all have good adaptability, high production, favorable characteristics and excellent quality. The study also indicated that the best variety was " Huazhen ", the fresh yield of ears was 13198kg/hm~2, and the corns talk could be used as green fodder.(2) Choosing"Huazhen"as the experiment material to study the cultivation techniques and measures, such as earlier seeding, different methods of cultivating seedlings, transplanting and covering etc., results showed that planting in early spring (on March 5 ) in Chongming Island could get fairly high yield (16100kg/ hm~2) by applying seedling transplanting, covering ground film and some other promoting cultivation techniques. The commodity is about ten days earlier available on the market than those cultivated by regular method. It would stagger the sales season and be good for improving the economic benefits. |
