The technology of the virtual plant’s growth visualization can show the change rule of the plant’s shape structure.For example,through establishing plants’ growth model,The visualization model of plant grow process is realized,whose aim is to apply to digital and virtual plants’ manage.The paper takes capsicum as example,which is widely planted in our country,and has many health benefits,and has a complicated shape structure.Based on experimental data of shape character of capsicum’s organs(stem,leaf and fruit),the modeling methods of each organ and the whole capsicum tree are studied,as well as rendering and dynamic growth visualization.Using Visual Studio 2010 and OpenGL,the visual simulation of capsicum growth is realized.The main work and conclusions are as follows:(1)Through experiment and observation of previous studies,I analyze the growth rule of the capsicum’s organs,get the main shape character parameters.After analyzing the good and bad points of popular modeling methods,the suitable modeling method for capsicum organs models are selected.(2)Using NURBS surface to simulate the capsicum’s leaf model.The method of NURBS control points selection is studied,and a method based on image segmentation is proposed.Through adjusting the control points,the leaf shape can be flexibly changed.(3)By using the rectangular plane with deformation function to model the capsicum’s flower.(4)By using the ellipsoid parametric equation with distortion to model the capsicum’s fruit.According to the shape characters of the capsicum fruit,the radius property relation of X,Y,Z direction and distortion function are determined.The real simulation model of the fruit is realized.(5)In order to improve the reality,OpenGL library functions are used to add color information and light effect,and map texture to the capsicum’s organs model.(6)According to the related botany information,we take the stem,leaf,fruit as independent growth units,and then the model of the whole capsicum tree consists of these growth units.(7)Based on above modeled capsicum organs models,this paper puts forward a modeling method of an improved L system.The shape of the capsicum model can be changed through controlling related growth parameter.The three-dimensional visual simulation of capsicum growth is realized.
