Xilingol grassland, located in Xilingol league in Inner Mongolia, as one of four famous grasslands in the world, supplies lots of livestock and poultry products for community Xilingol grassland is destroyed seriously because of natural and human factors with the rapid development of economy and society. In recent years, ecological compensation becomes an effective method in protecting and controlling the ecological environment. It is also an issue taken by many scholars at home and abroad. compared with the theory abroad, ours is backward in theory and practice. Moreover, is weaker in the ecological compensation and practice of grassland.This thesis simply talks about the theory of ecological compensation and gives some examples on the successful cases in other areas. The thesis introduces some existing measures of ecological compensation implemented in Xilingol grassland. For example, the projects of harnessing sandstorm source between Beijing and Tianjin and the strategy of blockade- shift and banning graze or let the grassland relax or take turns , some people are forbidden to graze or let them give up breeding, some people move to other regions for the protection of ecological environment. On the base of confirming the achievements that the ecological environment of grassland is coming better, the infrastructure of agriculture and husbandry gained strengthened, the improvement of the living and producing ways, I analyses that there are some problems in the course of ecological compensation, for example, the law and the related mechanism are missing, the compensation mode is single, there are some deficient in supervising and encouraging system, and a series of problems existing in the process of people's moving for ecological reasons In order to consolidate the achievements of ecological compensation, solve the emerging problems in analyze, fundamentally speaking, we should overcome the limitation in the socio-economic development, seek the equilibrium point in the contradiction of survival and development, coordinate the connection between every related stakeholders actively, review the new relations between man and nature, finally achieve the aim of the harmonious development between man and nature.
