Forestry vocational education has a history more than 50 years in China. In recent years, great progress has been made in increasing professional faculty and rapid expansion of school scale. Obviously, forestry industry has a rosy future and great attention has been attached to it, but a common problem the Chinese forestry industry has to face is the great shortage of technicians with practical experience.In this research, in-depth investigation has been done to analyze the job market of forestry and some related industries as well as characteristics and influence factors of job application for forestry professional students. The work is carried out in four dimensions:First, research on core techinques, course schedule and teaching style based on market demands;Second, research on the structures of knowledge, ability and quality for forestry and horticulture professional students to adapt to the market demands;Thirst, research on graduation education for professional students and career development methods. Also the teaching mode - "three-plus-three" alteration between practice and study is practised in horticulture technology major which has been proved to have nice teaching results and social benefits.Fourth, research on the intension of quality education and expanding route of vocational college students majoring in forestry and horticulture.Here are six creative ideas based on this research:â… . To construct multi-direction personnel training mode. Also an effective way of multi-direction mode closing to market and facing social schooling has been explored and practiced in form of "teaching, production, research, management and service".â…¡. A new mode of "three-phase-style" vocational quality education has been explored.â…¢.A new way of cultivating "double-quality-teachers" in vocational colleges has been created.â…£.A week-teaching method of "three-thirds-system" alternation between practice and study has been explored. â…¤.A new approach of teaching has been explored. In the teaching process, students can learn through practice and also can practise through learning. A novel concept of professional teaching in agriculture and forestry is set up, that is "base is the classroom and seedbed is the class".â…¥. A new way of major construction, which is "managing enterprises by professionals, stimulating professionals by enterprises", has been practiced.This research is based on the subject of Forest Education Society of China focused on vocational education reform. Here we've offered six creative thoughts and proposed "personnel training mode" with "three plus three" alteration between working and learning which is appropriate for forestry and horticulture major education. It will effectively improve the quality of personnel training, "double certificates rate" and employment rate to meet the teaching goal which can offer high-quality professionals for forestry production, construction and management.
