Studies On Media Of Containerized Seedling Production For Three Hardwood Species

Containerized seedling is one of the main types of afforestation seedlings in degraded soils. To solve the problems in recent media research, the media and mixes were studied on the three hardwood species, prunus armniaca L., acer truncatum Bunge and robina pseudoacacia L. Based on the mixture design, the relationships between materials, the physical properties and growth of the three hardwoods were analysed with the SPSS or DPS analysis software.The results showed:1) corn stalks was a good substrate material, yellow soil could promote the most growth indicates, and wood chips and carbonized rice hull showed negative effects.2) In the actual production, three kinds of media could be used:the corn stalks, wood chips:corn stalks:soil (V:V:V)= 1:1:1, and corn stalks: carbonized rice hull:yellow soil (V:V:V)= 1:1:1.3) According to the forecast by rate of seedling emergence, raw materials could be regared as high quality media when the seedling emergence rates were higher than 60%, and the mixing ratio was unlimited. In order to achieve 80% emergence rate requirements, when raw materials'emergence rates were generally less than 10%,20%,30%,40%, 50%, the maximum volume ratios were 30%,35%,40%,50%,60%. If the rate of emergence rate requirement was 90%, the quality of material must be higher, or must lower its proportion in mixture medium.Alternative materials for peat were also studied. Using the soil column leaching method, the nutrient leaching characters were studied with leaching frequency and time. The results showed that:After four times leaching, the content of mineral elements concentration was stable. The leaching could be used in medialization technology, the ratio of soil and water was 1:20, but it was a reference value.
